Forums For Justice awarded the Cookes the Rachel Alert Network, along with a check on Saturday, June 29, 2002. The Rachel Alert Network is comprised of the following domain names:

RachelAlert.us
RachelAlert.net
RachelAlert.org
RachelAlert.com

Several members from Forums For Justice from as far away as California and Utah were involved in the search for Rachel Cooke today. Two of these members have been involved as searchers for Elizabeth Smart. One FFJ member found something significant enough for the search team to contact the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. The Major Crime Unit Investigator came out and then called out the Crime Scene Unit, and some four hours later, as the Cookes were on their way to a media event, they received a phone call from the Sheriff's Office officially clearing this area.

More about today's search and the media event later.

Rachel Cooke's Photo and Story on Top-Level FBI Page

I don't know if this has been commented upon before, but when I just went to the FBI page at http://www.fbi.gov I saw Rachel's picture on the very first (the top-level) page:

FBI page

They are rotating the terrorist and missing persons on the main FBI page. This is the second time that Rachel's picture has cycled through.

BTW, http://www.rachelalert.org is 99% finished.

It's good that they are rotating

IMHO, that way everyone gets a fair shot at being seen if people don't go beyond the first page.

Rachel Cooke Search - Saturday August 3, 2002

Today's search took us to several empty lots near the Cooke home that RC felt needed a more complete search after going through the search records.

Searchers all sign in and new searchers fill out their paperwork. I believe we had 6 new searchers today (RC correct me if I am wrong.)

Cameraman from KEYE

I think this guy was a good sport - as camera met camera. Bet you this part of his film gets clipped though.

Seriously...

The camera man was a super sport, he actually followed us around as we searched the first lot.

Lining up for the grid search

We had 13 searchers today. At least half of them were new but they were very good about keeping the line as straight as possible and searching thoroughly.

Clearings

Clearings are a place we stop and reform the gridline.

Dense brush

Dense brush can be a problem because it hides open spaces but it also scratches up the searchers.

Look up, down, forward and backwards

It's fairly slow going when you are searching because you have to check carefuly. The rains we had recently meant grass 4 feet tall or higher and of course there's lots of scrub.

Once again, we know where Rachel isn't. We need to bring Rachel home. Next week is the 7 month anniversary of her abduction. Time does not make it any easier for Rachel's family.

Search for Rachel */03/02

JR. It was my pleasure helping all of you with the continued search for Rachel Cooke. I wish we all could have met under different circumstances. I pray thesearch will not be needed next Saturday and that Rachel is home with her family, but if needed I will be there with my two girls again. Thanks for the warm welcome and the information to this site and forum. God bless those who take time to remember our most important commodity: OUR children.

Welcome Shyshi5

I appreciate you coming on Saturday to help out with the search. We had six new searchers! That is quite a few new volunteers to show up on one day.

We will just keep checking out areas until we hopefully find something.

Saturdays Search

I was new to the search efforts on Saturday. I too wish we all could have met under other circumstances. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do to help. There are some people in Houston that are interested in coming up for the next search if they are available.
My continued prayers are with Mr. Cooke and the rest of his family and Rachels loved ones.

Some people I have shared what I know of Rachels' story have asked me if this is the same Rachel Cooke that went to a school called "Casa by the Sea" in Mexico. If so they think they may know her.
