Evans woman haunted by JonBenet case

    Story by Mike Peters

Not only the Ramsey family’s lives changed on Christmas 1996, when JonBenét was murdered.

The life of their housekeeper, Linda Hoffman-Pugh, now an Evans resident, began rolling downhill just hours after JonBenét’s body was found.

“Patsy Ramsey named me as a suspect right away,†the still-angry Hoffman-Pugh said last week. “Boulder police showed up at my house that night.â€

Police questioned Hoffman-Pugh, her husband and daughter, but Hoffman-Pugh didn’t know until later that she was a suspect in what may be the most publicized murder in Colorado history.

At the time of the murder of 6-year-old JonBenét, Hoffman-Pugh had worked as a housekeeper for the Ramsey family for 14 months.
Hoffman-Pugh lived in Fort Lupton at the time, with her husband, Mervin Pugh, and their then-13-
year-old daughter, Ariana. They shared a combined family from previous marriages. Linda had five grown children, Mervin four.

    Since the murder, the fam-
    ily’s life has been overturned.

Hoffman-Pugh had no job after the murder, and her daughter had lost a friend, JonBenét, because the two girls played together much of the time. The family’s income came mainly from delivering the Greeley Tribune in Fort Lupton.

After a best-selling book, “Perfect Murder, Perfect Town,†by Lawrence Schiller was released in 1998, Hoffman-Pugh discovered she was named as a suspect in the case.

    She sued.

The case, filed in 2001, went on for a year, with Hoffman-Pugh working with her attorneys in Atlanta, where the Ramseys had moved after the murder, and in New York. She’d thought of writing a book about the case and her grand jury testimony in Boulder, but instead, decided to go with the lawsuit.

“We thought we had a good case,†Hoffman-Pugh said. “They accused me directly of murdering that little girl.â€

But the $50 million libel suit was dismissed in 2002 by an Atlanta judge. Despite a ruling to open her grand jury testimony the Pughs came out with nothing except what Hoffman-Pugh felt was a libelous accusation.

Since that time, the family moved to Evans, Mervin lost his job, Linda was in a traffic accident and has been adjudged 65 percent disabled for the rest of her life. She said that because of other children’s taunts about the Ramsey case, Ariana couldn’t continue in school. For a couple of years, Hoffman-Pugh home-schooled her. Ariana hasn’t been able to finish school.

The family still delivers the newspaper and struggles with the thought that Hoffman-Pugh was named a murder suspect.

Now, after nearly seven years, Linda still believes Patsy Ramsey murdered JonBenét. “I don’t think there will ever be an arrest in this case, but maybe, before she dies, Patsy will admit it.

“I know I would like to find out before I die.â€

So Linda and her family are struggling now, waiting for the finalization of a lawsuit filed against the man who crashed into her car. But it’s not the accident that occupies her thoughts most of the time.

“JonBenét’s case still haunts my family,†Hoffman-Pugh said. “I still look back over my shoulder when we’re out at night.â€

    And jameson's lovely post

I was accused of being Rifraf at the swamp. I am not Rifraf and I don't know who is. Anyway, here is the skank's post about the above article. I have paraphrased much of it.

Jameson says that LHP went public early on defending the Ramseys, then she turned accuser and put herself in the public eye. She says that if her services as a housekeeper became less than desirable, well, that was her own fault.

The SKANK also says that the Ramseys never directly accused Linda of being the killer, that in fact they said they didn't believe she was capable even though they accepted that all people around needed to be investigated. SKANK added, (That quote is libel, I believe - - and I confess I wouldn't mind seeing LHP sued. Sure, not a lot of money there... but just think of the truth that could come out in depositions linked to THAT case!!!!!)

It's interesting how jams likes to emulate her idol, Patsy Ramsey, with the use of all those !!!!!, LOL.

SKANK then goes on to say, as for Ariana, poor thing, she is being touted here as a high-school drop out? How pathetic! I do not believe there is any way that child couldn't have completed high school - - there was public school, homeschool (jams knows so much about homeschooling, as we have been told ad nauseum) or even GED options. She says she would love to know how many in that family ever graduated high school, and that she bets less than half, and apples don't fall too far from the trees, so they say. She says she really doesn't care that Arianna is a high school drop out, but to put it in the paper like some injury related to the murder, that's a bit much.

I think jameson's post about the Pughs reflects pretty much on her own character. We all know how she has interfered in the lives of the Pughs, sending pornographic pictures which she downloaded off the internet to authorities, claiming it "could be" Arianna Pugh and the man "could be" her father.

Jameson claims to have buns of steel. I think it's more like metal shavings for brains.

So now Jameson is so in with the Ramseys they even discussed LHP's house-keeping abilities with her? uh-huh. Sure. I think Jameson dresses up like Patsy and stares into a make-up mirror chanting "You say po-tay-to, I say po-tah-to..."

Just like in the scene in Psycho where Norman Bates dresses like his mommy...

Someone else always has to clean up their dirty work, so jameson should really have more compassion for Linda.

    Linda deserves a freaking medal

and more for all the abuse she and her family have taken since JBR was murdered. Jameson is an ugly person for the beastly things she implied about Arianna and her father. No one gets those kinds of pornographic picture unless they go to pornographic websites. Whether jameson herself was making use of those websites or someone she knows was doing it, it makes no difference - websites depicting sexual acts between adults and children are illegal and anyone downloading those pictures is also committing an illegal act. jameson thinks she is above the law, and she should have been arrested for possessing that filth. Instead she sends it to the BPD, plasters it all over her forum, makes suggestive comments about it being Arianna and her dad, and gets away with it. I don't believe that anyone sent her those photos. I think she went in search of them herself. I don't believe one damn thing that conniving wench says, in fact.

jameson continues to make suggestive remarks about Arianna, saying that when she is of age she can come forward with the truth. I think jameson ought to shut her fuddermucking mouth, because she has harmed Arianna with her filthy accusations. How would any of us want our husbands' and daughters' demeaned the way jameson has demeaned the Pugh's minor child and husband? It was obvious that man in the pictures was NOT Mr. Pugh, but jameson kept it up. How humiliating for Arianna and her father.

But, the Pughs don't have much money, and they can't defend themselves against these vile accusations. In jameson's eyes and the eyes of some of the other skanks at the swamp, that makes them trash. Well, I'll tell you one thing, Arianna Pugh made it through to near-adulthood without ending up dead in her parents' basement. That's more than I can say for the trash in Atlanta and North Carolina who have done nothing but try to pin the murder on everyone but where it should be pinned.

The Pughs have more honor than Skank and Atlanta Skanks, including that Skank Stine ever thought of having.

    That's awful

Just when I try to think Jams is just doing her job for her pals, something like this, or her defense of Westerfield, comes along and reminds me that she is bizarrely psychopathic.

I wonder how she'd like people saying cruel and malicious things about her family.

The Ramseys have a circle around them that Dante would run from.

Arianna should check into local law. She may be able to sue Jameson on her own behalf after she turns 18.

WY, Thank you for posting this article about LHP.

I personally feel Linda Hoffman Pugh worked for Patsy Ramsey long enough to know what type of nature she had. She must have spotted all the flaws in her personality. Above anyone else, I think LHP has more insight in knowing Patsy Ramsey had something to do with her daughter, JonBenét's death, than anyone else, and the new investigator Tom Bennett should take extra special care when he is interviewing her.

Re: Linda deserves a freaking medal

Well the funny thing is that it was regular adult porn, not child porn. The man in the image she touted was actor Ron Jeremy (a legend in the porn world), and the actress, if memory serves, goes by the name "Gage". She looks young, but the DVD from which the photo is capped, has contact information (pursuant to Title 18 of U.S.C.) on who maintains the records proving the actress is over 18. I'm not going to say how I know that... ;-)

Jams should not be arrested--she should be committed to a mental institution, as she poses a danger to herself and to others.

The greatest testament, to me, to LHP's sturdy moral character, is that she refrained from getting embroiled in the whole Nancy Krebs scam. She might have given the story enough critical mass to at least get the tabs to pay out $$$ for it, so her self-control here is commendable.

    I stand corrected

when skank had that picture on her forum, it made me so sick I couldn't even look at it - just glanced at it - because she made it sound as if it was a young girl.

I too think skank is mentally ill.
