Keenan's not up to the job

I hope we don't have to wait as long for answers in the Iraqi prisoners abuse case as we've waited and are still waiting for Keenan's investigators to sort through the Ramsey case. I have read elsewhere that no one inside that investigation has interviewed one of the most important witnesses - Fleet White. If they haven't interviewed him, then it's a good bet they haven't interviewed anyone, and, if anything, have only gone through the motions to pacify the litigous ambulance chaser from Atlanta.

How long does it take to go through files? A year? Two years? Three years? Four years? Indefinitely? Those who would say, well, the BPD had the case for 6 years and didn't solve it would be wrong. They did solve the case. However, the DA didn't think he could successfully try the case in court, and given his record of settling the vast majority of his cases out of court, he was probably right.

The BPD knew who killed JonBenet. They just couldn't prove it. There was nothing left for them to do. Contrary to RST spin, the BPD did not focus only on the Ramseys. In fact, they followed leads on every red herring the RST threw them. Yet, the RST continues to claim they did not investigate other leads. What a crock. There is one thing I know - there will never be an "intruder" convicted in the JBR case, and anyone who thinks there will be is living in outer space. Attorneys would rip any intruder case built by Lou Smit to shreds in court.

All the work was done for Keenan's Ramsey-loving team. All they had to do was go over the case files. Instead, I'll bet they've completely ignored the case files and tried to build their own case files on a non-existent intruder. So, what's the problem? Where's the beef? Where's the intruder? Keenan says they are "making progress." In a pig's eye they are making progress. I'd like to read the fairy tale Smit is writing now and calling it case. What a farce.

The years keep piling up. The perps are getting on with their lives. Who knows? Maybe they will run for public office in the near future. Perhaps they will appear on cable TV, revving up their PR machines. In the meantime, Keenan's team just keeps plodding along at a snail's pace, and leaving about as much slime in its wake. What's another two or three years? Life goes on. Why concern ourselves with a dead six year old whose life was taken from her in her own home on Christmas day? Just another throwaway kid, right, Keenan? Keep up the facade, hide behind it, say you are making progress when you know it's a crock. Keep Lin Wood happy. He doesn't care if you make progress with your investigation or not as long as you say all the right things that will placate him and his conniving clients.

It's way past time to appoint that special prosecutor and investigation team, Mr. Owens. It was way past time when Mary Keenan decided to reverse everything the BPD had done with her outrageous public statements. There could never be a credible trial with the BPD and DA's office so decidedly divided. That should be enough reason to appoint an unbiased prosecutor and investigation team, even if there were not absolute language concerning Keenan's testimony in a civil trial (Pease).

What are you waiting for, Mr. Owens? Don't the people of Colorado deserve to have the police and DA on the same page instead of completely opposite? How would Keenan be able to try the JBR case under the present circumstances? How could she possibly leave out the first investigating officers, the BPD? Do you really think she could get away with presenting only her biased investigators in court?

Don't kid yourself, the BPD witnesses would be there - called by the defense team.

Better start thinking about the ramifications of what Keenan has done, Mr. Owens. She can't try the JBR case in court - ever. She can't go against her own police department in court. She will be destroyed by opposing counsel.

Appoint an unbiased special prosecutor, Mr. Owens. Your own credibility is on the line.

Thank you Watching You. Fantastic post.

I am waiting to hear back from the Governor's office. If he still says no we have some other options. It isn't over by a long shot.

When is Keenan going to quit being such a coward?

    From John Ramsey's website

"It is the current understanding of the family that the investigation team considers this male DNA sample to be the key piece of evidence and was, without a doubt, left behind by the killer of their child."

WHAT? When has Keenan EVER said the DNA belongs to the killer? How can they prove it was put there by the killer? How can they date it?

We have to remember. This DNA did not come from flesh of the killer. If I understand it was DNA mixed in with JBR's blood. It could have been a few skin cells from days before the murder that JBR transferred herself through wiping.

I have heard mentioned that it is saliva. Could be. Then this would go to the theory from a police source that it could very easily have come from the manufacturer. Remember these were brand new underpants.

Keenan should have come out and disputed this. Instead she issued a "no comment" to Charlie Brennan. What a coward. She is a disgrace.

I was thinking about Mary Keenan last evening as I watched the movie "Prime Suspect" on PBS. Helen Mirren plays a lead investigator, stressed out by family problems, who makes many mistakes while pursuing a serial killer.

We have all read about Keenan's personal and family problems. If they are interfering with the way she is doing her job in the Ramsey investigation, she should be removed from the case.

The Governor should appoint an independent special prosecutor, one with no ties to the Boulder hierarchy.

If Owens can do this for a football team, why can't he do it for an innocent six-year-old girl, assaulted and terrorized, bludgeoned and strangled to death, in her own home on Christmas?

Well, friends, our several other threads contain so much well-documented information regarding Keenan's incompetence that has been submitted to Gov. Owens. Gov. Owens himself once publicly declared that BPD could easily disprove the intruder theory but won't do so publicly soas not to fully inform the real killer(s). We have clearly defined for Gov. Owens what his sworn duties are under Pease.

In short, I know not what else we can do to move the good governor off his passive haunches and into action. But, as Tricia says, we do have backup plans in the works in case he doesn't. Guess he'll just have to choose this day whom he shall serve......

"Keenan took over the case from Boulder police in December. She said police did an exhaustive investigation of the Ramseys as potential suspects and her office would pursue new or previously unchecked leads.

Bennett has worked several complex cases in Arvada and was recommended for the Ramsey case by Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas."

"Peripheral Ramsey character Fleet White is now focusing his attention on the Jefferson County district attorney after several of his legal proceedings in Boulder County have failed.

White, a frequent filer of lawsuits and motions regarding the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation, is now demanding that a hearing be held ordering Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas to explain why he failed to prosecute Globe tabloid editor Craig Lewis, who was indicted by a grand jury for criminal extortion and commercial bribery.

The new legal filing by White and his wife, Priscilla, also demands that Thomas explain why he failed to seek a special prosecutor or investigation into Lewis and Globe attorneys, whom White claims attempted to illegally influence Thomas’ handling of the case."

    More reminders.....

March 18 - Five alternate jurors have been sent home, but those close to the JonBenet Ramsey investigation say the grand jury won't be wrapping up its work anytime soon.

"Based on what I know and what I've heard, it's my belief they are within 60 to 90 days of finishing their business,'' said Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas. "That's a general guesstimate.''

Thomas has been serving as an adviser to Boulder County DA Alex Hunter on the Ramsey case. Hunter declined to comment on how much longer the grand jury would investigate.

Other Observed Activity: Two members of Boulder DA Alex Hunter's advisory team of prosecutors from neighboring counties, Arapahoe County District Attorney Jim Peters and Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas, arrived late in the afternoon and were escorted to the courtroom by Hunter. Hunter escorted them out of the courtroom ten minutes later. This is the first time any members of the advisory team have appeared in the courtroom. The other two team members are Adams County District Attorney Bob Grant and Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter.

    My train of thought

Thomas is who recommended Bennett for the new position with Keenan and according to his past stances and alliance with Hunter, I fear that he may be working too well with the Shoe-Wearing Spy.

    Keenan DUI case gets D.A.

    Travis Henry
    Daily Times-Call
BOULDER - A Larimer County deputy district attorney has been assigned to prosecute Boulder County District Attorney Mary Keenan's daughter for driving under the influence and careless driving.

Tanis Kay Keenan's arraignment hearing was postponed Tuesday morning to give her defense attorney, Barre Sakol, time to coordinate with special prosecutor Dan Johnson for a date when he can appear in Boulder, Sakol said.

A motion was filed by the Boulder County District Attorney's Office earlier this month asking for a special prosecutor. :jumpie:

According to police, Tanis Keenan allegedly struck a pole and backed into a police officer while drunk on Nov. 24, 2001, after an officer attempted to pull her over for erratic driving.

"The fact that the defendant in this case is a relative of the district attorney creates an appearance of impropriety if the Boulder District Attorney's Office continues to prosecute this action," said a motion filed by Assistant District Attorney Peter Maguire.

Despite initial indications by Mary Keenan that her daughter might not fight the charges against her, Tanis Keenan has filed a not guilty plea and requested a jury trial.

This is the third time in the last three years a special prosecutor has had to be appointed in a case involving Mary Keenan's children. :nono:

In January 2001, a special prosecutor dismissed two charges of driving under the influence against her son, Brian Keenan, after visiting Judge David

Ramirez threw out the evidence in the case, ruling a sheriff's deputy had no right to pull him over.

Boulder County sheriff's Deputy Paul Dunphy, a DUI patrol officer, stopped Brian Keenan on July 13, 2000, after noticing his license plate lamp was not working.

The case was assigned to Larimer County Deputy District Attorney Ingrid Decker because Mary Keenan was a chief deputy district attorney at the time.

Last November, a county judge recused herself and a special prosecutor was appointed in a criminal mischief case involving a woman arrested for harassing Brian Keenan.

Judge Care Hoye Enichen, a good friend of Keenan, removed herself from the case against 25-year-old Robin Brower. Brower is scheduled for an arraignment hearing Thursday.

Brower, Brian Keenan's ex-girlfriend, is accused of throwing rocks through windows in his house and car after the two argued about her entering his house, according to a police report.

Police began investigating the incident after Brower was admitted to Boulder Community Hospital, claiming she was the victim of an assault.

Brower said she never entered the house and insists that she was assaulted by Brian Keenan.
