The Ramseys said they didn't wake Burke up. WHY?

The one thing that really points to one or both Ramseys of having guilty knowledge of their daughter’s death is why didn’t they wake Burke up?

    Think about this.

You have a note from a kidnapper. Your daughter is missing.

Why in the name of God would you not wake up the one person in the house who might have heard something? Why would you let your son sleep? He could hold the key.

I can never, ever, get passed the fact the Ramseys said they did not wake up Burke and ask him if he heard anything.

Didn’t Ed and Lois Smart wake up all their kids when Elizabeth was taken?

Hell Patsy woke up all her friends to come over for moral support. So why wouldn’t she wake up the one person who might hold the answer to the “kidnapping?â€

There is only one reason. There was no need to wake up Burke because Patsy knew. And this one fact leads me to believe that John knew too. If Patsy was the only one who knew why in the world wouldn’t John, the big take charge CEO, run upstairs, grab Burke and say, “What did you hear?â€

Besides we know Burke was awake. But the Ramseys must have sent him back to bed.

To me this is one of the stupidest things the Ramseys told the police. For some reason they didn’t want Burke to have been up during all this chaos so they told the police he was asleep.

    Why?

Two reasons that I can think of, Tricia. One, they didn't want Burke to see or hear what was going on, or 2. they were very upset with Burke for some reason.

Their explanation for not waking Burke (their version, of course) never washed with me, either. The very first thing I would have done would have been to run to my other children's rooms and wake them up, first to make sure they were okay (not just a quick glance to see if they were in bed), and then to question them to see if they knew anything or were maybe playing a little trick on mom and dad. They said Burke appeared to be asleep, but without checking further, he could have been lying there dead for all they knew. At the very least, they were negligent in not checking him out thoroughly to be sure the small foreign faction had not bashed him in the head or otherwise harmed him. That is only common sense.

The second thing I would have done, after checking my other children and questioning them, would be to put everyone to work going through the house looking for my missing child, looking for a point of entry where anyone could have gotten in and out of the house with a child. I would have looked outside the house. I would have done a lot more than call 911, but maybe that's just the detective in me wanting to get out.

I sure wouldn't have left my other children alone in bed in a huge house where a small foreign faction could still be hiding, nor would they have obediently stayed in their beds with all the chaos and their mother screaming bloody murder. Something else was going on in that house that morning, something that caused Burke to feign sleep (he says) when his father looked in his room. When DOI was written, the Ramseys knew at that time that Burke had not been asleep; yet, they continued their farce in the book, writing that Burke appeared to be asleep and never clarifying that he wasn't. APPEARED TO BE ASLEEP?

What kind of parents are these people that they wouldn't have made sure he wasn't lying in his bed injured, perhaps mortally?

Nah, just another story made up by the Ramseys.

ANOTHER THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THE FACT THAT JR AND PR NEVER COMFORTED EACH OTHER WHEN THIS SUPOSEDLY HORRIBLE THING WAS GOING ON IN THIER LIFE. WOULDN'T YOU BE HUDDLING TOGETHER? WAS IT B/C ONE SUSPECTED THE OTHER? BEING JOHN WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SO SMART, WHY WOULD HE DISTURB A CRIME SCENE BY MOVING HIS DAUGHTER? I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO IN THIS SITUATION SO IT IS HARD TO SAY. Also when did they change her red shirt?

As WE know, there was no reason to wake Burke because they had no questions to ask him. The answers were already there and known. They didn't want Burke to be awake perhaps because he would slip and say something to the police that they might not want them hearing.

Don't forget another thing: Here is a family who claim no knowledge of JBR going missing (before the "find"). They claim to believe a foreign faction has kidnapped their daughter and that they are being targeted. So what does one do? You have a house with the f***ing police in it and you send your remaining child AWAY to FW's house where there are no police and no protection.

Remember "keep your babies close"? Unless it's Burke, right Patsy?

It never washed with me either...

That is so true Barbara. It must have been the valium making her say that....

I could never understand why they kept up the farce about Burke sleeping when it was proven that he was awake. Oh, wait, they didn't. Patsy baked shamrock cookies for the NE reporters and John said that Burke was awake, although he stayed in bed...

If one of my kids came up missing, there is no way the other ones wouldn't be up and questioned about anything and everything.

I guess I just don't understand those Ramsey's. Never have, and never will.

Tez, that is a GOOD thing! If you really start to understand them, that means you can think like them and that is a BAD thing! :tsktsk:

    Good God Tricia

Just because your six YO is sexually assaulted and murdered in your own home by foriegn terrorists is no reason to get paranoid. You are over-reacting again. Burke needed his beauty rest, obviously. Just because the rape and murder occured right outside his door is no reason to jump to wild, unfounded conclusions like maybe he saw or heard something. And why assume the killer wasn't still somewhere in the house? I mean just because he spent literally hours staging a crime scene doesn't mean he didn't take off immediately after all that work was done!

And what is this crap about coddling Burke after his sister is murdered in the next room? Why over-react by keeping him in that house swarming with police officers? Why, it says right in the Quantico Operations Manual, that if one child is murdered by terrorists, just send the other kids off with a middle-aged houswife with no police escort. Tell them to run along on their merry way.

Oh and I guess next you'll suggest the Ramseys should have gone all hysterical and started turning on their burglar alarm, locking doors and even supply Burke with a body guard?

I'm with you WY.... my young'uns would have been up,questioned and sent to look thruout the house......or if I was to scared for their safety to send them lookingthen they would have been by my side, hand in hand.

For all they knew Burke knew if JB was going to 'meet' someone...siblings keep secrets between themselves, not bothering to question her big brother is a big blues clue.

The Ramseys said they didn't wake Burke up. WHY

You have answered and analyzed your own question, Tricia. I find it difficult to add more. I agree with all you have to say here. This makes sense to me.
LE should really think about this one a lot more.

    Beyond that, Elle

Burke, IMO was kept in his room and later sent off with the whites to simplify things. Kids are notorious for spilling the beans so the less he knew, and the less he was around the police, the less beans he'd spill. I'm sure there was a bit of paranoia on the R's part that maybe Burke really did hear something, and I'm not talking intruder. So keep him out of the picture!

But, if JR's voice really is on that 911 tape speaking to Burke in what has been described as an angry voice - why would JR have been angry with Burke that morning? We're not speaking to you? One has to wonder in what context that statement was made - was it, we're not speaking to you because we are very angry with you for some reason, or was it, we're not speaking to you because this doesn't concern you and you need to get back to bed and stop interferring?

I doubt we'll ever know what really happened that morning.

I think he was stressed out of his mind, hoping he and Patsy could pull off the cover-up, and suddenly there is Burke asking a bunch of questions! The last thing they needed was having to deal with Burke pestering them so John snapped at him. To me it was like this morning when I was doing a phone interview, and naturally my dog Boo started barking right in the middle of it! I snarled at him and got quite evil.
