<html> <body text="#000099" bgcolor="#CCFFFF" link="#00CC00" vlink="#FF0000" alink="#993366"> <u>the Death Of Innocence</u> by John and Patsy Ramsey <p>Later, in July 1998, Cyril Wecht published a book, <u>Who Killed JonBenét?</u>, in which he pointed the finger directly at John and me. This man was becoming prominent - at least on the tabloid circuit - because of the death of our daughter. (P229;pp6) <p>Later we learned that the <i>Geraldo Rivera Show</i> actually has a guideline for the program, a "bill of rights and responsibilities," if you will. "Integrity and honesty are the first items mentioned on their list. Yet they had allowed their "paid-for-performing experts" to make statements that were totally false - without checking then for accuracy. Lives are destroyed by this kind of flagrant abuse of media power. If it weren't so tragic, it would be laughable. (P230;pp8) <p>"Children may be watching" was another responsibility on Rivera's list of rules. I've mentioned some of the topics covered during the two-day mock trial. Others were even more graphic and salacious. Children could be watching such an exhibition. (P231;pp1) <p>Just curious why the Ramseys have not sued Cyril Wecht and the Geraldo Rivera Show? IMHO, Mr. Wecht's book was at least as damaging if not more so than Steve Thomas's book and certainly Mr. Rivera made no secrets about his opinion of who killed JonBenét. <p>(This thread has the same title as the Ramseys titled their chapter where this discussion takes place.) </body> </html>
Hot Buttons! We know the "main" reason The Ramseys are suing Steve Thomas, and that is because he pushed their hot buttons on the LKL show. John Ramsey was like a caged animal on that show, and had to get in the last word in the verbal diatribe...which happened to be that ST would be spending a lot of time with Team Ramsey. He said he would sue him, and to save face he had to do it. I personally do not believe anyone can prove malice on the part of ST, and I don't think they can prove that for Wecht or Geraldo either...but the latter had no confrontation to act as a catalyst toward a suit.
Speaking of Geraldo... remember way back when, he said he had learned of a bombshell--and then shortly after that, he pretty much droped the story. I still wonder what that could have been about.
