Ramseys vs FOX News/Carol McKinley

The basis for the Ramseys' civil suit against FOX News is Carol McKinley's statement that there was no evidence of an intruder; ergo, McKinley libeled the Ramseys in reverse, I guess. IOW, if there were no evidence of an intruder, then by the process of elimination, one or more of the inhabitants of the house had to have committed the murder/accident/whatever it was. It's a convoluted way of getting at something, I guess, but give the Ramseys and Wood any conceivable reason, whether reasonable or not, and they will.

When McKinley said "the Ramseys," I never once thought of Burke. Did you? I thought of the grown Ramseys in the house, John and Patsy. Since I already believed John and Patsy Ramsey knew more than they were telling, nothing Carol McKinley said in her show swayed me one way or the other, and not once did Burke Ramsey come to my mind from anything Carol said.

This is what this thread is about. I am trying to understand if anyone here was caused to change their opinions about the Ramsey case or thought Carol was talking about Burke Ramsey when she said "the Ramseys" in her show. Civil cases are all about damages. How were the Ramseys damaged by her words? I personally don't believe for one minute the Ramseys were damaged.

    What say you?

    Nor me.

When you hear "The Ramseys" - you think of John and Patsy, not the child who they keep throwing out there, Burke. The same Burke who wasn't awake.....oh wait, yes he was come to find out thanks to the National Enquirer interview with the Ramseys. Not Burke, John and Patsy.

What interests me about this particular case is that Carol was also a key figure in the scam against Fleet White. I wonder who she was talking to early on to go on air to report first that the White family was who the Mystery Woman was out to target................ :mame:

Carol did go on Peter Boyles and talk about the so-called Mystery Woman. I don't know if mame was her source. I kind of doubt it because I don't think McKinley is stupid enough to buy into mame's crap, but one never knows, I guess. It may be that they were both getting their information from the same source.

Guys, I don't think we know the whole story as to the MW/Boyles show.

When I first read about it I was angry too. I posted about it. I did not cut McKinley any slack. I was mad. But looking back on it I would guess that Carol relied on her sources. I am making the assumption that her source was Hunter. It's Hunter who is the real damage maker in the MW fiasco.

If my assumption is correct then Carol McKinley did what any reporter would have done if the D.A. gave them a story and said it was credible. She reported on it. Do I wish she hadn't? Yes of course. But it's water way under the bridge now.

Since then McKinley has come a long way. She did an excellent job of reporting in the Hacking case in SLC. McKinley had a tough call to make concerning reporting what she knew as opposed to holding off. She held off for a few days then went with her info. In my opinion she did the right thing. McKinley got grief big time from the SLPD but she held her own.

As far as the Ramsey report goes I remember she said Burke was NOT a suspect. I am almost sure she said that. I don't have the transcript in front of me but I am almost positive she did.

When I heard the report I didn't even think it made the Ramseys, any of them, sound guilty. It was a fair and HONEST report. I didn't jump up and down and scream, "YES SHE KNOWS THEY'RE GUILTY." Just the opposite. I thought is was a very good report and didn't lean toward Ramsey guilt. Not at all.

Carol McKinley has come a long way. Now she could be the one that brings the truth out in this case. I hope we can all support her. Of course you are all entitled to your opinions and I wouldn't stop you from posting them. IMO McKinley needs as many members at FFJ to back her in this situation. It may be the last real chance of seeing the Ramseys in court.

In THIS case, I back Carol McKinley all the way. I thought at the time she said the things she did about Fleet White and Nancy Krebs that she went far beyond the job description of a reporter and more into her own opinion based on what her sources told her. I don't hold that against her. We all make mistakes and hopefully learn and grow from them. I will state unequivocably that I do not believe she slandered John or Patsy Ramsey or Burke Ramsey in her statements on that show, and if I were on a jury trying the case, I would be looking askance at how the case ever made it past the request for dismissal part.

I think that's what will happen. The Fox case will get dismissed.

I would bet Patsy is crying, "HELP ME JESUS. DISMISS THIS CASE."

The last thing the Ramseys or Wood want is for this case to go forward.

    Carol

True, Carol McKinley has come a long way. But for Pete's sake, can she not afford a new bra?? I saw her reporting from the hurricane cities last week in a tight blue top, and she was all lumps and bumps in the chest area.

Carol, get thyself over to Victoria's secret ASAP!

Or maybe Sparky can send you a few of her extras. :kilroy:

I agree that Carole has become a much better, more professional reporter. Yeah she looked into the MW thing but as a reporter, she had to considering the story was already on the front page of a national newspaper. She quickly dropped it and Mame. Carole, at least at one time, hated the internet because of all the crazies who tried to inject themselves into this case. The internet has amazing benefits and plusses, but there is also a dark side. Man you oughtta see what's happening with the Michael Jackson case. I am way more into that mess than I am hearing about the latest extortion plot by the Scamsies. MJ makes the Ramseys look like girlscouts

So, uh, Bob, got a link? I've been paying attention to that case. Every since Jackson paid off the first boy to keep him from going to court, I have cringed every time I've seen him with children - especially young boys. When his "wife" gave him those babies, I was in disbelief. It was like giving him his own personal sex toys. I hated her for doing that; how could she think for one minute that whacko was fit to raise any child, but especially her children? I think before this is over, everyone is going to be barfing their guts up over the things that have been going on with him all these years. I am thoroughly disgusted with the whole thing. He has gotten away with his sick actions because he has a ton of money. That's it in a nutshell.

well I happen to be friends with Randy Tarraborelli who wrote "The Music and the Madness" about MJ in the late 80's and he is working on the updated version of that book right now although I forgot to ask him when it's coming out. I'm also reading the book "All that Glitters"--Jordie Chandler's father's story (Jordie's the one who was paid 23 mill in the early 90's to shut up and go away) and it is the most evil book I've ever read. The book is written as if to make Evan Chandler look like a caring, protective father but it instead makes him look like a man who oughtta be in prison along with Michael. Jordie's mother, too! Evan Chandler extorted money out of Michael while previously giving MJ the green light for sleeping with Jordie (yeah he catches them in bed together and does nothing). The whole thing is so sick and I felt personally insulted that this parasite would whore his son out a second time with this book, while playing the noble victim. It's very Hollywood and really sick. The book is so poorly written I can barely get through it--he makes Henry Lee look like Hemingway. Actually "Glitters" is written by Evan Chandler's brother, and he sucks.

I swear to God this creep wrote the following sentence:
"Attracting women was never a problem--like ewes to a rutting ram."

Note to self: when trying to make oneself seem sexy, do not compare yourself to a barnyard animal.

I really hate it when crappy writers try to get creative. I've seen better scripts in porn films.

I'll bet the case gets dismissed...wahhh.

I want it to go forword....RUPERT grow some balls!!!!! You can get far more money from the publicity, and possibly justice for a murder little girl, by taking it to trial!

Show Me, I believe Fox will go all the way IF the judge does not dismiss the case.

The judge may decide that Wood and the Ramseys are wasting time and the case has no merit and throw it out. The case has ZERO merit but it may go forward. Who knows.

    Btw.......

My only intention in the "Blast from the Past" threads today was to refute Candy's claim that I was a liar and that Carol McKinley was NOT involved early in reporting the MW saga.

Clearly, she was there. And then she dropped it like a hot potato. Smart Move. I'd love to know what Fleet thinks about this civil case though. Sorry if anyone was bothered!

What do Lin Wood and Jameson have in common? They both love the word "Sue". :)

I think it has a good chance of being dismissed, too, but it would be interesting to see it go to trial.

Has anyone heard how Patsy's cancer is doing? I hope the stress of an impending trial doesn't cause it to kick up again.

No, WY, I never thought of Burke Ramsey when Carol McKinley said "the Ramseys."

Tricia, do you have that transcript where Carol McKinley actually makes this statement? Delmar was looking for confirmation for this just recently. If you do, would you please e-mail it to him. A few of us searched for it, but we couldn't find anything.

    no evidence of an intruder-

could that be interpreted as someone other than the Ramsey's, like extended family or friends and aquaintances? Why are the Ram's so sure Carole meant that they had to be the guilty party/parties?

I wondered about this, too, Texan. "Intruder" to me, in this case, meant someone unknown to the family. So, why ARE the Ramseys so sure McKinley meant them?

RiverRat, no need to explain about what you said. The fact is, Carol McKinley did make several statements concerning Fleet White and Nancy Krebs. That is pure fact and a matter of record. She seems to have matured some as a reporter since then, but no one can fault you for saying the truth. McKinley may not like being reminded of what she said or some of the public's interpretation of her words, but she is the one who said those words, so she has to live with the fallout, like it or not. I think she was wrong to use her position to gossip on a radio talk show, but I think she is 100 percent right in the Ramsey vs FOX lawsuit.

    Thank you, WY

As a long-term White family supporter, I couldn't help but remember. I was a little surprised that Candy flat-out denied it, I know that she's a whack-job, but come on..........Funny - it wasn't a big deal until Candy made it one. I'm sure that the fine folks at Fox noticed Candy's "help."
