    ABC13 Eyewitness News

(3/12/02) Family and friends of a missing 13-year-old southeast Houston girl are still hopeful that she will return safely. The search
continued Tuesday for Laura Ayala who disappeared Sunday night. A closer look at her neighborhood reveals a high concentration of sex offenders.

Volunteers from the Laura Recovery Center have set up a headquarters in an area that can best be described as the mean streets of Houston -- streets that are teeming with potential dangers and dangerous people.

    Post Texas Equusearch and buttons

I know the people at Texas Equusearch are very involved with this case. We talked about it when I was in Houston 2 weeks ago.

I gave them a few of our Help Find Rachel Cook buttons and they called Charles from the Button Shop and he met them in Bryan and made some Amber buttons.

Charles showed me one of the Amber buttons on Thursday when I picked up some more Rachel buttons. They are beautiful!

    Default Laura Still Missing

    Laura is still missing.

RC and Texas Equuasearch had the Laura buttons available at the Run/Walk for Rachel Cooke yesterday. Hopefully those who attended the Run/Walk will be wearing these buttons to raise some awareness in the Austin and Williamson County areas.

    Post Shoes found

Daryll from Texas Equusearch said they found the shoes she was wearing. It looked like they grabbed her and they came off right there.

    It's a very sad story.
