    My friends,

A wonderful woman in Scottland has made a complete rebuttal to Michael Tracey's "Prime Suspect" documentary.

I would suggest you read the transcript located on the bottom thread on this forum. Then read Jayelle's great rebuttal.

    This is really amazing.

Michael Tracey’s documentary – “Who killed the Pageant Queen – Prime Suspectâ€
Aired in the UK by ITV 1 at 9pm on Tuesday 15th June, 2004-07-14. It suggested the theory that:-

“The new team of detectives think Helgoth may well have been involved as an accomplice of an even more deadly killer. One who later murdered him to stop him talking after Alex Hunter’s unnerving press conference.â€

It was not made clear that this “new team of detectives†were Ramsey PIs!

    Transcript can be found here:-

Terms such as “Tracey III†or “Tracey’s latest crock†or the “Crockumentary†or “Crock†are also used by Internet posters to refer to this documentary.

The “Prime Suspect†became known as “Mr X†on the following forums:-

The “Prime Suspect†became known as “SX†on the following forum:-

    http://www.webbsleuths.org/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID37&archive=

    The documentary comprised of:-

    • Video footage of the Ramsey family and JonBenét Ramsey in pageants
    • Interviews with friends/acquaintances of Michael Helgoth
    • Interviews with friends/acquaintances of “Mr Xâ€
    • Interviews with a group of Private Investigators who are working voluntarily on the Ramsey case
    • Library (archive) interviews with John and Patsy Ramsey
    • Library (archive) interview with Lou Smit
    • Interview with Greg Laberge, Forensic Scientist
    • Interview with the father of a girl known as the “Dancewest victimâ€

The documentary was highly critical of the Boulder Police investigation and pushed the point throughout that the Police only focused on the parents – ignoring other leads.

John San Augustin We were finding out that there were people that were never even followed up, I mean literally people within, you know, 100 feet. There were certain individuals in the neighbourhood who had criminal backgrounds that had never been talked to.

Narrator These include two men living near the Ramsey home who left Boulder immediately after the murder. Both have criminal records yet neither has been interviewed. Two convicted paedophiles who lived nearby have also never been eliminated. These detectives have found too that the Boulder Police dismissed important information if it pointed away from the Ramseys.

The documentary then moved on to look at Michael Helgoth. The “evidence†forwarded against him appeared to include the following:-

    1. He died the day following Alex Hunters speech to the killer or killers where he stated:-

DA Alex Hunter I want to say something to the person or persons who took this baby from us, the list of suspects narrows. Soon there will be no-one on the list but you ...

    2. Helgoth owned a pair of Hi-Tec boots and there was a Hi-Tec boot print found in the Ramsey basement

    3. The makers of the documentary claimed that Helgoth used to stalk people at night time dressed in black ninja clothing.

    4. Helgoth owned videos containing scenes of violence (sample footage shown of a gunman shooting at a crowd of people)

    5. a) Helgoth owned the video “The Santa Clause†where a young girl was wakened from her bed on Christmas Eve by Santa. This was considered significant because JonBenét Ramsey was wakened form her bed on Christmas night by her killer.

    b) Helgoth’s video of “The Santa Clause†contained news footage of the unsolved abduction and murder of a child in Colorado and PI John San Augustin suggested that this was significant because:-

John San Augustin In a lot of these types of investigations you see that these criminals hide their activity within media. What they’ll do is, they’ll play a movie and then somewhere in the middle of the movie, they will put their piece of their criminal activity within that video and when you look at the Helgoth video, you know, here you have a movie that’s playing along and then all of a sudden you have news coverage of an unsolved murder here in Colorado (News 4 news clip).

Narrator The news story that Helgoth had kept, told of the abduction and murder of a five year old girl. It occurred near Boulder three years before JonBenét’s killing. It too remains unsolved.

News Reader A child’s body was found stuffed inside a duffel bag in Deer Creek Canyon yesterday.

(It is believed that the child in the footage was Alie Berrelez).

    5. Helgoth owned a stungun and some believe that an “Ait Taser†stungun was used on JonBenèt Ramsey. The stungun theory was stated as a fact in the documentary, but it is in fact a theory which is strongly disputed by experts.

    6. The documentary did concede that the stungun seen in Helgoth’s death scene photos is not the type that they believe was used on JonBenét Ramsey, but they claimed that they know he owned several stunguns including an “Air Taserâ€. They did not offer an explanation as to how they knew this.

    7. Helgoth owned two wolf pups and :-

“Helgoth’s associate raised wolf dogs whose hairs exactly match those colours. Helgoth had bought two of these dogs.â€

No evidence was offered as proof that this match had been established forensically.

    8. John Kenady’s testimony which includes:-

    • Kenady’s claims that Helgoth told him he wondered what it would be like to crack a human skull (JonBenét’s skull was cracked)

    • Kenady’s opinion that Helgoth liked shooting guns

    • Kenady’s opinion that Helgoth liked to strangle kittens with his bare hands

    • Kenady’s claims that Helgoth liked to stalk people at night time

    • Kenady’s claims that Helgoth liked to shoot at people, narrowly missing them

    • A statement of belief that Helgoth would not have muffled his own suicide shot because he was generally bold about shooting guns

    • Claims that Helgoth wore black ninja clothing

    • Kenady’s claim that he thought it was suspicious that Helgoth committed suicide the day after Alex Hunter’s “finger-wagging†speech.

    • Claims that Helgoth had spoken to Kenady of a “killer deal†which was going to make him $50-60K:-

John Kenady Mike was pretty happy around late November about him and a partner making a killer deal and they were each gonna make fifty or sixty thousand.

The documentary pointed out that this was close to the amount of the $118,000 ransom.

    • Claims by Kenady that Helgoth was depressed because:-

John Kenady And then Christmas goes..comes and then he’s really depressed and there’s no money. And then he said that he wanted to crack a human skull and then she received a crack on her skull and I felt obligated to go to the police department and tell them what I knew.

    9. The documentary suggested that Helgoth was a potential paedophile.

    10. The documentary claimed that Helgoth’s ex-girlfriend told them he collected Barbie dolls (Barbie dolls were found on the Ramsey lawn some time after JonBenét’s murder) and that he couldn’t trust himself with her small daughter:-

Narrator Three months after the murder of JonBenét Ramsey, the Boulder Police were told that this man, Michael Helgoth, might have been involved. They ignored the information, but a new team of detectives appointed last year, have taken it seriously. They’ve discovered Helgoth had an infatuation with young girls. A girlfriend says that he actually collected Barbie dolls. She eventually had to take out a restraining order on him to protect her daughter. She had come home unexpectedly one evening and found her on his bed. He was in bed naked. He said he couldn’t trust himself with her daughter.

Ollie Gray I think this is very relevant to our case. We’re looking at a potential paedophile. This has all the characteristics of sexual deviation. The age bracket of the child was within two years of the one we were investigating and I felt that it should go further.

    11. The documentary suggested that debris seen in photographs of Helgoth’s boots were the same colour as the mould on the Ramsey basement floor. There was no evidence given that a match had been made forensically. No explanation was given as to how debris from the Ramsey basement floor would still be on the sole of Helgoth’s boots two months later. No alternative explanations for brown debris being on the soles of Helgoth’s boots were offered at all.

    12. The makers of the document suggested that killing animals “excited†Helgoth.

    13. The documentary stated that they do not believe Michael Helgoth committed suicide because:-

    • He was unlikely to have muffled the shot

    • That he was right-handed and the shot was made on his left hand side. They demonstrated how the trajectory of the shot would have been difficult for him

    • That he did not leave a suicide note

    • That suicides usually shoot themselves in the head, mouth or under the chin – not the torso as Helgoth had been shot

    12. They offered the opinion that he was murdered by:-

“….an even more deadly killer.…..to stop him talking after Alex Hunterâ€s unnerving press conference.â€

They did not offer any explanation as to why his death was deemed a suicide by the people who investigated it at the time.

Having made the above claims, the documentary admitted that Michael Helgoth’s DNA did not match the DNA found under JonBenét’s fingernails or co-mingled with blood in her underwear.

    More than one killer
The makers of the documentary proceeded to offer the suggestion that Helgoth had not committed the murder alone and that he had been an accomplice to the real killer.

They offered the following as evidence that two people were involved in JonBenét’s murder:-

    1. There were two different footprints in the Ramsey basement. They suggested this was a previously unknown piece of evidence in the case when in fact, this information had been known to case followers for some considerable time.

    2. There were a number of objects taken in and out the house that night - “rope, stun gun, cord and duct tapeâ€

    3. They suggested that it would have been difficult for just one person to have done all that had been done that night.

    4. They suggested that the ransom note suggested there was more than one person:-

And the ransom note also suggests that more than one person was involved. It says, “We are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign factionâ€. It warns about the “two gentlemen watching over your daughterâ€.

    5. They also suggested that the ransom note referred throughout to the kidnappers in the plural. This is technically inaccurate as there are several places in the ransom note where the writer says “I/my†rather than “we/ourâ€.

Justifying their choice of suspect “Mr Xâ€

In the months preceding the Ramsey murder there had been up to a dozen midnight burglaries in the area where little or nothing had been taken and they believed the motive was thrill. The burglaries stopped after the murder.

Investigators looked for an associate of Helgoth’s who “shared his interest in martial arts and young girlsâ€.

The documentary included the following testimonies from friends/acquaintances of “Mr Xâ€

First Man I tried to steer clear of that individual because he could have been, you know, a menace ... to me or my family.

Interviewer (Unseen) Were you personally scared of him?

Second man Phew. On a level, I’d have to say “yesâ€. Absolutely. I think he was capable of being violent towards anybody.

John Kenady He threatened to cut one of his girlfriend’s ears off. His ex-wife -- he tried to kill her. They were only married probably five or six days.

    …

Second Man He was very methodical. He wanted everything down to the last detail. He ... didn’t want anybody else to have any control. If he didn’t feel like he was controlling a situation, he would lash out.

John Kenady Martial arts, he liked those throwing knives, he was into ninja, he was into the dark clothing, he always wore a black t-shirt, black pants, black boots...

(Black fibres were found on JonBenét’s body)

The makers of the programme claim of “Mr X†that:-

Helgoth’s associate lived in this trailer park near the car salvage yard. The makers of this programme know his name, but have decided to withhold it, because he has not been charged with any offence. But the more that has been discovered about him, the more he fits the profile of a stalker and a killer

The documentary also said of Mr X that:-

Helgoth’s associate was convicted following a stabbing here on the trailer park. Witnesses were too frightened to give evidence but court documents summarised his criminal record as “violence -- history of sexual assaultâ€. They also reveal that he was a convicted paedophile. He was imprisoned in the 1980s for a sexual assault on a child.

They suggested that he “may†have worked in the Ramsey house shortly before the family moved in. The Ramseys moved in to 755 Fifteenth St in @@@@

They suggested a link between “Mr X†and some animal hairs found at the crime scene:-

Unidentified animal hairs were found in the cellar where JonBenét’s body was left. The hairs were of two colours. Helgoth’s associate raised wolf dogs whose hairs exactly match those colours. Helgoth had bought two of these dogs

They did not offer proof that this link had been established forensically.

They suggested that if Helgoth and Mr X were responsible for the midnight burglaries, then they could also have been responsible for the death of JonBenét Ramsey:-

If Michael Helgoth and this one associate that we identified were actually involved in the burglaries, they could easily have been involved in the murder also. There’s just too many associated items that could tie him to it that means that he has to be eliminated. We need DNA from him –- wherever he might be.

They did not offer proof that Helgoth and “Mr X†were involved in the midnight burglaries.

The documentary claim that “These investigators see the associate as their prime suspect in the Ramsey case. Tracking him down they say, is a priority. The need to do so, made more urgent by revelations about another horrific crime the Ramsey killer may have committed.â€

They also claimed that he had disappeared:-

Narrator Helgoth used to stalk people at night dressed in black ninja clothing. When looking for his possible killer, detectives looked for a violent associate who shared his interest in martial arts and young girls. They immediately came up with one. A close associate who has since disappeared. A man who frightens those around him.

    Dancewest assault
The documentary suggest that “Mr X†may also have committed a sexual assault on a 12 year old girl. This case has become known as the “Dancewest case†because the 12 year old took dancing lessons at the Dancewest Studio. JonBenét Ramsey also took lessons there and investigators suggest that this is another link between the two cases.

The mother of the victim in this case described the attacker as:-

The mother described the assailant as about 5 feet 7 inches tall, 20 to 30 years old, with blond hair. She noted that he had an angular, thin face, with a jaw line that "really stood out."

More about this case can be found about this case here - http://hellpainter.tripod.com/jbr/14.htm

    Identifying “Mr Xâ€
The documentary showed several documents relating to “Mr Xâ€. It was these documents which enabled several Internet sleuths to identify him. All of the Internet sleuths had seen the documentary. Although screen captures have been made of the documentary, no special manipulation was necessary to read information which could identify “Mr Xâ€. It was possible to read information from the screen on a portable television.

The documentary had blacked out the name, but they made no attempt to black out, or otherwise obscure other information, specifically:-

    • The case numbers of the court documents
    • His date of births – there were two
    • His Social Security numbers – there were two
    • The name of his attorney
    • The dates and descriptions of his offences
    • The details of his sentence and probation
    • Details of his physical appearance *

*This did not remotely match the description give by the mother of the intruder in the Dancewest case.

A simple Google entry of “search by case number Colorado†leads to the website:-

    www.cocourts.com

where any interested party can obtain details of a case by case number for a fixed fee of $6. Payment is by credit card.

The case numbers shown on the documentary were 96CR111 and 96F75. The former was clearly visible on the screen. The latter was readable as either 96F75 or 96F15. The case documents were discovered to refer to John Steven Gigax whose date of birth corresponds to the date of birth shown on the screen during the documentary.

    Summary
The documentary offered the theory that “Mr X†was involved in the following crimes:-

A series of midnight burglaries in the Boulder area
    The murder of JonBenét Ramsey
    The death of Michael Helgoth
The sexual assault of the 12 year old Dancewest victim

The documentary also offered the suggestion that Michael Helgoth may have been involved in the abduction and murder of a 5 year old girl in 1993.
