    LEGAL QUESTIONS:
    - If you extradite a person from another country and then drop the charges, are you responsible for returning the person to the country you took them from?

    - If a person is extradited to the US under a warrant in one State, can another State then arrest them, or do they have to be returned to the foreign country and re-extradited under a warrant from the other State?

Does this mean that Lacy might charge him with obstruction and such?

If so this outta be good.

Karr can say Tracey enticed him to continue on with his tale of the killing. He can lay it all on Tracey's feet.

    We can only hope..

Lacey has already publicly stated that she's not going to prosecute Karr for a false confession (which I guess could be construed as obstruction of justice in a sense).

As to what this all means...who knows. Maybe Karr has confessed to the Lindberg kidnapping.

What could the 'huge dynamics' be?

I wonder what kind of penalty there is for falsly confessing to being with someone when they died.

It appears that records of communications between Boulder and Sonoma LE have either been lost or discarded ... or never happened.

Boulder claims that no one remembers contact concerning Karr in 2001 at all ... and they have NO RECORDS that any such contact was made. On the otherhand, Sonoma LE has "memory" of such contacts (but no records).

I'm not sure what relevance that might have, but here's the article:

BTW ... I could not find a date for the piece linked above. And I'm curious about the date of the article that BluesStrat posted. It would seem that it was some time ago ... cuz hasn't Karr already been returned to Sonoma County?

The extradite link and article is on the Websleuths trials board. The publish date of the Press Democrat article is 9/9/06. Sorry, I can't highlight the link to paste it here.

Perhaps Karr will be put to use in Colorado as a witness against the Boulder DA and finally show the scam that office is running. One can only hope...

This case has gone beyond JonBenet now and any lawsuit has to have bigger implications than just a dead kid. It has to relate to something that would affect and save many children.

    Could it be?

The first thing that entered my mind, as I read BluesStrat’s posted article, from the “Press Democrat,†was the following: Has a possible connection been discovered between John Karr and John Ramsey, in that ugly world of child pornography?

What a bombshell that would be!

“Sheriff Bill Cogbill would not discuss the details of the trip or why deputies left Boulder without bringing back the high-profile defendant on a local warrant for failing to appear at a 2001 hearing on charges of possessing child pornography.

But he alluded to larger issues in the case that could affect Sonoma County's five-count misdemeanor prosecution of the former Petaluma substitute teacher who famously confessed, apparently falsely, to the 1996 JonBenet Ramsey slaying .

"The dynamics evolve day to day," Cogbill said, adding to the mystery surrounding an already bizarre case. "There are huge dynamics going on that could change the whole course of this." He said he would be able to talk more freely early next week."

There is a whole other dimension to this that I'll probably be able to talk about later, but not today," he said.â€

WHAT?…â€huge dynamics going on?†"whole other dimension?"… If evidence has been uncovered to verify my suspicions, the media frenzy will start anew, and maybe, just maybe, the spotlight will again be focused on the most probable guilty entity, and there will be a final resolution to this decade’s long, agonizing, convoluted case. Well, I can dream, can’t I?

This is, of course, mere speculation on my part; all my humble opinion; nothing more and nothing less. So, put away your legal pads and sharpened pencils, Mr. Woody. You best go hire a good lawyer for yourself!

Too many people got egg on their faces in this mess. So--my guess is the whole thing is getting investigated.

My personal favorite part of this hoax was how Karr said maybe he used a Lear Jet to get to Boulder. It was very Diana Ross.

The clock is ticking until the next phony "suspect" is unearthed by the Ramsey goons.

BobC, I hope more than anything you are right but I don't hold out much hope.

I suspect he is being held for some stupid reason that's going to get us P.O.'d all over again.

Yeah--unfortunately you're probably right. I keep making the mistake of thinking people in the DA's office are rational, which only shows my learning disability.

Well, anybody trying to predict anything that woman might do needs to have a brain transplant at this point.

  18. I think Karr deserves to be punished for being a creep and a willing bus victim... I know those aren't exactly prosecutable offenses, but at least take his eyeliner away for a year or something...

I'm waiting to hear that Karr claims he said all those things to Tracey in e mail for Tracey/or his own book. Wasn't that the motivation behind their initial meeting? Tracey was going to help Karr write a book. Karr will say he was talking "through his concept of the killer" and that Tracey took it out of context (truthfully, I haven't read all of the e mails), and set him up.

Then sue Tracey, Boulder, Lacy for false arrest! !ouch:

Whhhat?..............it could happen.......It's Boulder guys....c'mon..........tell me it couldn't happen........ :glug:

I looks to me likeLlaw Enforcement considers Karr to be a threat, and want to find a way to keep Karr off the streets. If he ONLY faces the five misdemneanor charges in Sonoma, then the max jailtime is one year, and a $1000 fine. There would likely be time off for time served (5 or 6 months?) And I assume that there would be charges for fleeing the charges, expenses, etc. Nonetheless ... he'd be on the streets pretty quick.

Almost two weeks ago, a judge (Balin?) ordered Karr to be returned to Sonoma ... and set a deadline for the return (5 pm September 13, 2006 ... tomorrow). Two Sonoma LE officials were in Boulder on Thursday last week to pickup Karr, but returned without Karr. Hmmm ... I think that's why I thought Karr was back in Sonoma.

My guess is that the return was delayed in order to investigate the possibility of filing new charges that would keep Karr in jail longer ... ie ... Federal charges. That is supported by the following statement from today's Daily Camera:

Sonoma County district attorney spokesman Larry Scoufos said Monday that Karr could face federal charges of child pornography, carrying much more dire consequences than the state's maximum punishment of a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.

Here's the URL for the full Camera article:

In a Charlie Brennan RMNews story today, Carolyn French, a spokeswoman for Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy, said, "I believe at this point Boulder is not investigating him for any criminal behavior" ... in response to questions as to whether there is any renewed interest in Karr in connection with JonBenet's murder.

    Here's Brennan's article:

    http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4986369,00.html

BOTH are interesting articles, and BOTH strongly suggest that the Feds are trying to toast Karr's Nutz ... but that it will be UNRELATED to the Ramsey Murder case.
