You know, this was just a sad story when I first started looking it up on the news links on my server main page. It is Parkersburg, home of "other beauty queens" I can think of.... Then I decided to google it. Now I keep getting links that say "Sorry, error...."

So now I'm wondering if Patsy just LEARNED how to cover up something messy W. Virginia style....

Here's what I mean: Here is a copy of a google page cache, mentioning the headline "Pageant director remembers former winner." I found this headline on several W. Virginia news sites about the death, but everyone kept coming up "error." When I went refreshed those news pages, the headline disappeared entirely. So I'm saving this one here, the google cache page, to prove I'M NOT MAKING IT UP. You know, before SOMEONE says I did....

I know it could just be a bad link. But considering the history of Miss W. Virginias...one does wonder. Maybe someone else can find it.

OK, tell me it's just my paronoid personality disorder coming out...right? Right? Don't lie to me! Why are you looking at me like that?! :help:

OK, I took just the headline from this story and googled it and here it is from google's cache. Nothing important, but is this the same guy we know so well...?

Did you notice she was 39?

Maybe they should put warning labels on pageant crowns:

WARNING: WEARING THIS CROWN MAY CAUSE LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS BY AGE 39....

Don't get me started. I think pageants are evil.

Anyone who bases their self worth on outside appearances, and is willing to be judged against others by means of a degrading cattle-call parade, already has an emptyness in their psyche. It must be filled up something.

I wonder if these beauty queens have a tough time aging?

In spite of what hollywood tells us, there is far more to a woman's life than just her face and figure. Maybe the beauty queens have depended on their looks for so long, they can't cope with getting older and drink themselves to death?

It's not just beauty queens that have a tough time...after all there are billions to be made from anti-ageing products and plastic surgery and non-invasive procedures.

And the pressure to be young and beautiful is starting at a younger and younger age:

    Depressing!

Let's make gray hair and wrinkles the new marks of beauty....and no woman will fear aging, indeed she will be glad she's getting older!

Maybe they try to compensate for never being properly loved and cherished by putting their exteriors out on display, but then when the show is over, they are left with their empty shells and all the pain inside. Someone who drinks herself to death is carrying around a lot of pain. What a terrible shame.

I always think of Marilyn Vanderbur and the awful abuse she endured. I wonder if many of the pageant queens are similarly abused.

Why isn't this being reported by the big news channels? I mean, after all, this is 'news worthy' in a sense because the Miss America pageant was held 3 days ago.

Miss USA hints at childhood abuse

In a live confessional, Tara Conner tells TODAY's Matt Lauer that she has confronted the abuser but won't elaborate on the nature of the trauma

Well, she's certainly being frank, and admitting her using. Maybe one comes out of rehab talking like an old-timer in AA, because she has all the right words and phrases, but I am like Matt - "All this in 30 days??" I also don't like the way she says she "has an allergic reaction" to alcohol and drugs. That is putting the responsibility for her actions onto her body in a very passive way. IMO, she hasn't hit bottom yet.

Oh, and I don't like the way Matt was digging, trying to get her to say more than she was comfortable saying about whatever abuse - maybe it's not true or whatever, but he should back off that and respect her. If she's lying, she's a damn good liar.
