Cecilia was apparently abducted through her bedroom window in Toronto Ontario Canada early Monday morning October 20.

She is a Chinese female, 9 Yrs., 4'11", 70 lbs. with shoulder length black hair with blond highlights and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing her night clothes.

Police have not released any suspect or vehicle information at this time.

The case of Cecilia Zhang, the nine-year-old abducted from her parents' home more than a week ago, will be televised to more than 10 million international viewers this weekend on the U.S. true-crime show America's Most Wanted.
"Currently we've scheduled three minutes after the first commercial break for the Cecilia Zhang case," Avery Mann, spokesman for the Fox show, said in an interview from Washington, D.C.

The show was thought to have played a role in the investigation of Utah teen Elizabeth Smart's disappearance after four viewers recognized the girl's suspected abductor when it ran a segment on her case last March. She was returned to her family shortly after those sightings.

Toronto police Sgt. Jim Muscat said camera crews from the show were to be permitted to film the rear of Cecilia's home this afternoon, where a pried-open window may have allowed the abductor or abductors to enter.

I'll bet this is not a sexually motivated case. I attended a FBI seminar on child abductions and learned that in Chinese communities in both the U.S. and Canada, a certain number of criminal enterprise/revenge child abductions take place each year. This has all the markings of that kind of case. I know of one other recent case in the states. Doesn't mean Cecelia is necessarily safe though.

Fedorax, I was thinking much along the same lines myself.... I am hoping that she is safe.

I thought that maybe posting about her here at FFJ, and about the other young lady (Erin Chorney) who disappeared from Brandon, MB here over a year ago, might make a difference in some way.

I don't know that case. How far is it from Toronto? Was that young girl also Asian? Was there contact before or after from abductors?

No, Erin wasn't Asian... Where I am here in Brandon is probably about 2000 miles away from TO. Manitoba is central to Canada. I don't know if you have ever heard of the International Peace Gardens... They straddle the North Dakota/Manitoba border.

She dissappeared without a trace, I think the police here believe she may have been abducted.

RC, I see that Mark Llewellyn is involved in the Zhang case. He's one of the FBI's top kidnapping experts. Isn't he the fellow you spoke with about Rachel?

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. - Police confirmed Sunday that the human remains found in a wooded ravine west of Toronto are those of nine-year-old Cecilia Zhang, who went missing last October.

The remains were spotted purely by chance by a hiker behind Mississauga's Church of the Croatian Martyrs at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said Zhang's remains had been at the site for some time, but refused to provide further details, such as the cause of death.
