I heard the 9-1-1 call long ago and far away.

Don't remember what show, it was pre-ramsey-internet-must know-every-detail-about-case-to-post-time in my life, but did in fact lead me to the fold because of impact of hearing the Ramseys go from hysterical to Not talking to you Burke......

BUT -and that's a big butt, like the shank's - If this was a recreation of the 911 call, which show was it? I can't remember anyone providing an answer if this was discussed before.

Dear Erin Moriarty:

In all honesty, I was embarrassed for CBS by the way in which 48 Hours
Investigates sucked up to the Ramseys to do your program.

I would have
thought that the storm of controversy surrounding Barbara Walter's "soft
ball" interview with the Ramseys, in which the Governor of Colorado, no less,
criticised Ms. Walter's for her lack of objectivity, would have acted as a
sufficient Cautionary Tale to other networks to avoid "hugging" suspected
child killers in public and on-the-air.

Now, I realize that it is sometimes necessary to "suck-up-to-a-source" in
order to get them to agree to an interview, but a network that has a proud
tradition of Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, and 60 Minutes deserved
something better than a Ramsey "Infomercial."

Moreover, I happen to know for a fact that a copy of Gideon Epstein's
deposition was available to you .

And yet, you seemed to have ignored mentioning Epstein's conclusions to your
viewers, in what, apparently, was an attempt to avoid offending the Ramseys,
who, it appears, exercised considerable editorial control over your program,
if only indirectly.

Obviously, the "intruder/stun gun" theory of Lou Smit's won't fly if Patsy
Ramsey is the author of the ransom note. But that embarassing fact was left
out of 48 Hours Investigates.

Smit, by the way, has refused my offer to show him the handwriting evidence
of Gideon Epstein, despite his claims of being "objective."

i saw the ATM pic and heard the 911 tape.

i saw the ATM pic and heard the 911 tape on
the Geraldo show. this is when Geraldo was a talk show host with an audience.

he did a special show on the ramsey case.
he did a mock trial with people representing
pro ramsey and con ramsey.

this show, in fact, got me interested in finding out
all the facts about the case. and thus later, when i
had internet access.....to find the forum.

the show was really good. and i have made attempts
to find transcripts of this old show...with no avail.

the ATM pic.....what i saw was a pic of a person
with a baseball hat on. the hat covered the person's eyes and most of the face...i dont remember seeing their nose.
i could not even tell if it was a guy or girl.
the ATM pic was time and date stamped because it
came from the security camera at the ATM.

i personally feel it does NOT prove that JAR was at that
ATM. there is no way to tell who was in that security cam pic.

the 911 call. i remember it this very well because they typed what was being said on the bottom of the screen. they
typed in what was later quoted in books....what john said to burke....and what burke replied back. this was the first
time i knew for sure that the ramsey's were liars.
i heard it myself from the 911 call that burke was awake.

and again, this prompted me to read on and find
out the real truth about this case.

anyway, i am not sure.....why Fed thinks the 911 call was
never on any TV show. i heard and saw it with my own eyes and ears.

Around the time of that mock trial, Geraldo did have a recreation of the 911 call -- perhaps it was even pre-recorded to give the impression it was similar to the real thing. It was certainly recreated for both TV movies.

The tabs and Schiller had already written the gist of what was in the call, although there may be more to the real call that we don't know about.

The real 911 call has never been made public or aired publicly.

This is what I recall also especially that time and date stamp part from the ATM. Where I saw it, when I saw it, how I saw it, I have no clue !! (LOL) I just remember seeing it.

Heck, I might have even saved it but only God knows where it's at and "he ain't tellin'"

what i remember fedex.........

is that the call.......per the geraldo show...was not....showed or aired as a reinactment......
but was the actual call......per what geraldo said.
and per my memory....

i remember geraldo going back through the call.
and saying...this is john talking....and this is burke
talking back to john.

i could be wrong...and geraldo could
have led us all astray...but he
led us to believe...it was the real thing......

i wish ..i wish i could get a hold of that transcript.....anyone else want to look.....i have tried....cant find it...

 

It is my understanding that the audio of that tape is very difficult to decipher in person, let alone over a TV broadcast, and that's one of the reasons no one's released it to the media. That and Beckner has kept all the evidence under a very tight riegn--as he should.

Geraldo fooled a lot of us with his mock trial. He presented the tape as if it were real evidence, when it was just a re-creation.

However, I did enjoy the verdict!

I saw the same picture ACR saw. I just don't remember where I saw it. It sure didn't prove to me that it was JAR, because it was so blurry.

Where the he=double-l have you been, BobC? I almost had my niece convinced to name her new baby BobC, but then she chickened out and named him Merek.

I have to toss my vote for seeing the JAR picture on one of the forums. Not sure which one though. Too bad there were reasons for some forum owners not to have a handy-dandy searchable archive.

Nope, Geraldo is not where the 911 call was played. It was one of those like Hard Copy or Inside Edition tabloidish shows.

I highly doubt that the call is hard to understand. Of course there is the three of the Ramseys (left alive in the house) - some calm, some hysterical, some questioning what was going on - But it was not like they were using a payphone beside a busy intersection.

And, I am sure that a copy leaking out has nothing to do with Beckner's approval of such. But I do appreciate Bob's insight!

and again.....they did have the 911 phone
conversation.....on audio....if real....or reinacted.

and BobC is right...the audio was really bad.
so they typed on the bottom of the screen

i do remember that the 911 call was then
heard on another show.....but i thought
it was like on one of the main shows......like nbc's today show.

if i had only know...i would have documented it all!

i did look up on google that..... that specific show was
put into transcript as were all his 1977 ramsey case shows .....but you could only order it
for 1 year after it was transcribed.

maybe....just maybe......someone paid for it.....
way back then......
