Thank you so much Zoomama. I am going to write an official letter to the editor tomorrow and send it off.

The reporter did do a great job. I have to say I was surprised at her very first question.

"Were you the caller on LKL?" LOL.

Does anyone have the press release mentioned in the 2000 interviews that Texan posted? By the way thanks Texan fo doing that.
You put out a press release that
10 gave an address for contributions to be made
    11 to the foundation.
    12 A. I don't remember ever asking for
    13 contributions.
14 MR. WOOD: Do you have a copy of
    15 the press release?
16 MR. KANE: Yes. As a matter of
    17 fact, I do.
18 MR. WOOD: Why don't you let him
    19 see it.
20 THE WITNESS: I would like to see
    21 it.
22 MR. KANE: I have what the Denver
23 Post has published as coming from your press
    24 release.

    Press Release and Ramsey Ad

    Tricia,

I don't know if this is the press release that is referenced in the 2000 interviews or not. February 4, 1997 is the date that the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation was supposed to be formed.

I found this Boulder press release from February 7, 1997 where crime stoppers is quoted as, "We have been working with the Ramsey family attorneys for the past several weeks as they worked to establish a foundation which will be responsible for the funds,"

    ========================================================
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    Feb. 7, 1997

    Contacts: Larry Wieda - 303-441-3327

    RAMSEY CASE NEWS RELEASE #24
    BOULDER CRIME STOPPERS ANNOUNCE
    $100,000 REWARD IN JONBENET RAMSEY

Boulder County Crime Stoppers officials announced today that a reward fund totaling the amount of $100,000 has been established for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for the murder of JonBonet Ramsey in December of 1996. Earlier reports stated that an award fund has been established by the Ramsey family in the amount of $50,000 and by a national publication in the in the amount of $50,000.

"This information is incorrect," notes Brad Harvey, co-chairman of the non-profit Crime Stoppers organization. "We have been working with the Ramsey family attorneys for the past several weeks as they worked to establish a foundation which will be responsible for the funds," he adds. The Crime Stoppers board of directors will direct the distribution of the funds and make any decisions concerning possible recipients.

The Crime Stoppers programs exist internationally and are designed to assist in solving difficult crimes. Due to the program's ability to take information anonymously, and provide rewards, the program has been very successful. The Ramsey family suggested using the program to assist with the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for the death of their daughter.

"Although this case is somewhat unusual, we hope to provide assistance that will lead to the eventual closure of the case," says Harvey. Individuals who have information that may be pertinent to the case should call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-444-3776. All callers remain anonymous.

Note: Officer Larry Wieda is the President of Crime Stoppers International. He is recognized world wide as an authority on the program. He is the coordinator of the Boulder County Crime Stoppers program.

The Ramsey's then placed an ad for the reward where the Ramseys state, "$100,000 reward from the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation"

    Ramseys offer $100,000 reward
Ad offers different image of JonBenet
    By SANDRA FISH
    Camera Staff Writer
    Sunday, April 27, 1997

With a sweet grin and shining brown eyes looking out from beneath slightly tousled blond hair, an advertisement seeking the killer of JonBenet Ramsey offers a markedly different portrait of the 6-year-old most frequently seen as a young beauty queen.

Today's advertisement in the Daily Camera offers a $100,000 reward from the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer. It lists a number for the foundation and the Crimestoppers' hotline operated by the Boulder Police Department. The reward money was provided by JonBenet's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, and others.

The ad comes almost four months after JonBenet was found strangled and beaten in the basement of her family's home, about eight hours after her mother reported her kidnapped.

Family spokeswoman Rachelle Zimmer said the ad is running only in the Daily Camera.

The photo of JonBenet is in stark contrast to her portrayal on television: modeling on runways in beauty pageants, wearing makeup with her hair styled. Even in the photo of JonBenet released by police after her murder, the girl appears to be wearing lipstick and her hair is carefully coifed.

Zimmer said the family selected a school picture of JonBenet and wouldn't discuss the photo selection any further.

Such a photo probably will seem unusual to those following perhaps the most publicized murder in Boulder's history. Week after week, supermarket tabloids run pictures of JonBenet in pageant regalia - she was a former Little Miss Colorado and won several other pageants as well.

"One of the things I have always wondered (is) this child probably had a life apart from beauty pageants," said Christopher Mueller, a University of Colorado law professor. "Maybe they're trying to humanize her ... This is a battle over the public image of the family and the child."

The advertisement comes at the end of a week when the Ramseys' attorneys publicly exchanged acrimonious letters with law enforcement officials. The Ramseys' attorneys said police canceled scheduled interviews with the parents on the spur of the moment. They also accused police of a smear campaign. Boulder County District Attorney Alex Hunter said earlier this month that the Ramseys are the primary focus of the investigation.

"Obviously, the position of the Ramseys here is that they are innocent," Mueller said.

    Nearly Non-existent Foundation

    Ramsey children's fund seems idle

Charity was set up after girl's slaying, but kids' advocates aren't familiar with it

    By Charlie Brennan
    and Kevin McCullen
    News Staff Writers

BOULDER -- Two years after John and Patsy Ramsey formed a children's charity named for their slain daughter, there's little evidence it has aided anyone.

On Feb. 3, 1997, just over a month after JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in her parents' basement, family representatives announced the formation of the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation.

Its goal, according to a statement at that time by John Ramsey's business associate Laurie Wagner, is to "benefit children who are in a variety of needs."

A search two years later for signs that the foundation has helped anyone yielded little.

"I had never heard of the foundation," said Marsha Caplan, executive director of Voices for Children, a private nonprofit enterprise in Boulder County that provides advocates for children in civil cases. "I don't know of anybody who has benefited from it."

A Ramsey-family liaison, who would speak only on condition of anonymity, said the foundation has raised $14,000. He said most of the money has gone to causes that fit the guiding principles established by the family. But attorneys for the Ramseys declined to detail the foundation's finances.

And two months of attempts to obtain Internal Revenue Service records -- both through the IRS and through a family attorney -- detailing contributions to and distributions by the foundation proved fruitless.

The foundation has been registered as a nonprofit corporation with the Colorado secretary of state's office since April 1997. It lists a Boulder post office box as an address and John and Patsy Ramsey as the officers.

The Ramseys are suspects in their daughter's slaying but have vehemently maintained their innocence.

Boulder free-lance journalist Frank Coffman, who has made an extensive study of the Ramsey case, wasn't surprised by the foundation's slow start.

"This is about as popular as the 'O.J. Simpson Battered Women's Shelter' or the 'Bill Clinton School for Wayward Girls,"' he said.

Officers for various children's organizations said they are unaware of any assistance from the foundation.

    Lin Wood Lies About Foundation

    On Larry King LIve:

KING: But your clients also wrote a book, Lin.

WOOD: You bet they did. And I will tell you, they had no choice. My clients, unlike Steve Thomas, my clients have had a three- year time period in which they have been subjected to the most vicious attacks. Just look at some of the things that have been said about this family. John and Patsy Ramsey have been accused in headlines of being everything from child molesters to drug addicts to murderers to pornographers. They had finally after the grand jury, I think, an obligation almost to come out and tell their side of the story, to tell the truth of what this family has been through. And they're not spending their money -- and I -- with all due respect to Mr. Thomas, I'm sure he's got more than a small house and a pick-up truck as an advance for this book -- but they're putting their money back into paying for the criminal investigation, the attorneys' fees and then the JonBenet Ramsey Foundation. I'd like to ask Mr. Thomas what he intends to do with his money.

    Sparky and the JonBenet Foundation

    Tricia,

Still not sure about that press release mentioned in the 2000 interviews but I had saved the postings below from Sparky (and about) when she donated that $5.00. Sparky posted that she sent the check 01-10-2000 so she had to have an address then to do that. Maybe Sparky can recall why in January 2000 she decided to send in the donation and where she got the address to do that.

    The letter:

I've mentioned that check on only one other forum besies JW; mame gave me the "wrong" address on Friday or Saturday (She doesn't have connections with Patsy and John like I do). Maybe John and Patsy were just being nice by giving the "right" address.

and you all thought I was just another pretty face.... ha! I feel special.

A quote from Lin Wood regarding the foundation:

He says that "the nightmare of the past three years has literally depleted this family's life savings, and they are in tremendous debt for attorneys' fees and other expenses related to the criminal investigation." Proceeds from the book, says Wood, will pay off those debts. Any profit beyond that will go to the JonBenét Ramsey Children's Foundation, which donates money to children's spirituality programs.

Has the foundation actually donated any money to any programs? I doubt it.... I look forward to seeing the foundation's financials. Also, I thought the foundation was under the code "Prevention of Cruelty to Children" (sounds like SPCA....), but now is being billed as a foundation that donates money to children's spirituality programs. 1000Sparks check to the JBR foundation, mailed in January, was recently cashed and Sparks got some JBR foundation info back. Good going, Sparky! Sparky also posted that the check was endorsed by way of a stamp as follows: "MLPF&S, Inc."

MLPF&S = Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith, i.e. John Ramsey's Atlanta banker friend, Rod Westmoreland, who works of Merrill LYnch and JR called that morning to gather up the ransom money.

Someone should track down the tax records and expenditure info the JBR foundation.

    hmmm

How does giving money to the Jonbenet Foundation help protect children from "predators?" I'm serious--how exactly was that money used? Did they contribute to the Amber Alert? Give money to Adam Walsh? Set up a phone line for parents who were missing children?

What exactly was this money being used for? Folks this is HUGE and will completely destroy John Ramsey's campaign if it gets out. I want to know! I want to see reciepts and documentation. Even if they only got Sparky's $5 I still want to know exactly where it went.

I never followed this Foundation bizzness the first time around but I'm sure going to now. It's bad enough these creeps have gotten away with murder and actually collected money from doing it, but this is too much.

    Foundation spent little on causes
Parents, lawyer give; little goes to causes

    By Charlie Brennan
    News Staff Writer
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
BOULDER -- The only significant contributions to a charitable foundation established in the memory of JonBenet Ramsey during its first year came from the slain child's parents and one of their lawyers.

The foundation's most sizable expenditures were for rent and the purchase of a computer, according to Internal Revenue Service records obtained by the Denver Rocky Mountain News.

The foundation's total revenue for 1997 was $12,567.

The News reported last month -- based on interviews with child advocacy officials -- that the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation had made no known contributions to child support groups either in Colorado or in Atlanta, where the Ramseys now live.

    The IRS documents confirm that.

The single greatest expense reported by the group is a $4,546 computer "for keeping of the foundation's books" -- even though the foundation's end-of-1997 assets were just $5,380, barely more than the cost of the computer used to track those funds.

The documents show that the biggest contributors to the foundation were Patrick Burke, a criminal defense lawyer representing Patsy Ramsey. He gave $5,000.

John and Patsy Ramsey gave more than $5,000.

JonBenet, 6, was found beaten and strangled in her parents' basement Dec. 26, 1996. Her death is the subject of an ongoing Boulder County grand jury investigation.

Patsy and John Ramsey, president and vice president of the foundation, respectively, are suspects in their daughter's death but maintain they're innocent.

Calls on Wednesday to the group's treasurer, Gail Heinzman, were not returned.

When the foundation was formed in 1997, a Ramsey representative described its mission as being to benefit children who are in a variety of needs.

But the IRS records indicate efforts were directed elsewhere.

Apart from the computer purchase and $2,282 for rent of an office at Chrisman Construction, 5777 Central Ave., Boulder, the foundation has spent little money.

Its "charitable activities," as reported to the IRS, amounted to $769 given to CrimeStoppers "to assist their effort to obtain crime leads," and $596 on "advertising soliciting information into the murder of JonBenet Ramsey as a public service."

Amber Partridge, an administrative assistant at Chrisman Construction, said Wednesday that the Ramsey foundation no longer has an office at that address.

What about Suzanne Goebel's foundation? Didn't that one take over for the Ramseys? And isn't that one defunct as well?

BobC you are right. This is HUGE. In the beginning I said the only thing people need to focus on is the JBR Foundation because it was a shell of a foundation. Also John's promises in DOI were totally empty.

If a man can't follow through using the name of his murdered daughter to help children how in the world can he do anything for the people of Michigan.

Ramsey reward ad suggests new suspect in JonBenet's murder

    May 9, 1997
Web posted at: 9:43 p.m. EDT (0143 GMT)

BOULDER, Colorado (CNN) -- A new newspaper advertisement will be published Sunday promoting a $100,000 reward in the killing of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey -- this one suggesting a possible suspect.

The new ad, to run in the Boulder Daily Camera, asks: "Anyone with information regarding a well-dressed male approaching young children around Christmastime, please call."

Investigators in the case have not publicly suggested they were searching for such a person. Police had no comment on the new ad.

The reward is funded by the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation, the sole contributor of which, CNN has learned, is JonBenet's father, John Ramsey, a multimillionaire entrepreneur. The new wording was not approved by County Crime Stoppers, which had administered a hotline number for tips that might lead to an arrest in the case.

    New ad drops Crime Stoppers
Ramsey family's latest plea seeks info on "adult male"
    By ALLI KRUPSKI
    Camera Staff Writer
    Saturday, May 10, 1997

An ad scheduled for this Sunday's Camera indicates a possible suspect in the JonBenet Ramsey homicide.

"Anyone with information concerning an adult male approaching young children in Boulder in late 1996, please call," the ad purchased by the Ramsey family reads.

Family spokeswoman Rachelle Zimmer declined to elaborate on the appeal, which offers a $100,000 reward from the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation.

"We have a reason for including the new material in the ad," Zimmer said.

The foundation removed the Crime Stoppers phone number from the ad, instead listing a hot line the Ramsey foundation established, Zimmer said.

"When you call the (foundation tip line), it asks you to leave your name, your phone number and information," said Officer Larry Wieda, coordinator for Boulder County Crime Stoppers, the nonprofit organization designed to help police solve crimes. "The phone records can be subpoenaed, so if an individual is seeking to be anonymous, it jeopardizes the anonymity of the callers. We're concerned with this."

A draft of the ad submitted to the Camera earlier this week included the Crime Stoppers phone number and stated, "Anyone with information regarding a well-dressed male approaching young chil dren around Christmastime, please call."

Police, however, have not received reports about such incidents.

"If we have an active lead to follow, of course we'll follow it," city spokeswoman Leslie Aaholm said.

John Ramsey and a friend found the 6-year-old strangled in the basement of the Ramseys' Boulder home on Dec. 26. About eight hours earlier, Patsy Ramsey discovered a ransom note demanding $118,000 and called police.

The Ramsey foundation placed an initial ad in the April 27 Sunday Camera including the Crime Stoppers number and requesting information leading to the arrest and conviction of JonBenet's killer or killers. But, in accordance with Crime Stoppers' policy, officials altered the phrasing of Sunday's ad to "arrest and indictment" of the person or persons responsible for the crime.

"They changed the wording ... and that (April 27) ad got some publicity for the Ramseys, and this one should get even more," a family friend said. "The information in the new one could have come from (the Ramseys') private investigators. And I'm sure people will call the foundation hot line or Crime Stoppers if they know anything, even if it seems Crime Stoppers and (the Ramseys) aren't getting along."

The omission of Crime Stoppers from Sunday's ad doesn't indicate conflict between the organization and the Ramseys, said Stacy Cornay, public relations consultant for Boulder County Crime Stoppers.

"They (the Ramseys) chose to include language which wasn't included in our agreement. Our agreement still holds, and we at Crime Stoppers wish to do everything we can to assist with this particular crime," Cornay said. "If they choose to run ads in the future, as long as they meet the terms of our agreement, we will continue to support that."

The ads, however, deflect attention from the Ramseys, some said Friday.

"My personal point of view is that it is part of a public relations strategy adopted by the Ramseys, and (I'd suggest) the community take it as such," Boulder Mayor Leslie Durgin said. "If the Ramseys have known about this, one wonders why they haven't said something earlier. We hope if the Ramseys learn anything, they will be forthcoming with the police."

University of Colorado law professor Christopher Mueller offered a similar view.

"The Ramsey family foundation should share with police whatever information they develop through their own investigation," he said. "If a lead appears first in a newspaper advertisement, it indicates a lack of coordination with investigating authorities. Apart from this problem of coordination and sharing of information, it seems proper to put at least general leads in a newspaper advertisement."

Also I had saved this from the www.ramseyfamily.com web site so as of 12-26-2001 when that web site was still on the Internet and the reward was still being offered, I assume by the JonBenet Ramsey Children's foundation:

I also believe that Linda McLean's book profits were suppose to be donated to the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation but I am not sure if that was the original one that was set up in 1997 or that Suzanne Goebel site.

Vicki Banner and others ask, "What organizations, foundations, charities will benefit from the proceeds of your book?"

    John Ramsey:
"The proceeds of our book will be used to pay legal expenses and will then go to the foundation we set up to honor JonBenet. That foundation will focus its efforts in the future on protecting children against predators, through legislation and heightening and awareness of potential predators that may be in our midst."

Georgia-based foundation seeks tips on Ramsey case

    By Sandra Fish
    Camera Staff Writer
    -----------
A new foundation seeking the killer of JonBenét Ramsey is running an ad featuring a "letter" from the 6-year-old.

The ad, headlined "Please Remember Me," is running in the Daily Camera today. It asks that information about the crime be sent to a post office box in Minneapolis or to an America Online e-mail address.

A photo of JonBenét in a sailor dress appears in the ad next to text — in the first person — telling about the little girl. It ends, "Please, find my killer." It is signed with a heart and "JonBenét" in handwriting.

Friends for JonBenét, a Georgia nonprofit formed in June, paid for the ad.

Six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family's Boulder home the day after Christmas 1996. She'd been reported kidnapped early that morning.

Investigation by police, prosecutors and a grand jury thus far has failed to reveal the culprit in the girl's death. Police have said her parents are under suspicion, while John and Patsy Ramsey say an intruder killed their daughter. Books written by the Ramseys and others, as well as news reports on the case, have spawned several libel suits.

Suzanne Goebel, a friend of Patsy Ramsey's and a "personal life coach" with Christian Leadership Coaching, is the registered agent of the new nonprofit.

The group apparently is soliciting donations online and through mailings to "constituents," according to information posted on Internet discussion groups.

Today's ad isn't the first seeking information about JonBenét's death.

The Ramseys, through the JonBenét Ramsey Children's Foundation, placed advertisements in the Daily Camera beginning in April 1997. That summer, the ads featured text and script from the ransom note left in the Ramsey house the morning of the crime. That foundation remains registered in Colorado.

Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner said his department will consider tips about the crime if they're provided by the group running the ad.

"We evaluate it, obviously," he said. "If it's something to follow up on, we would certainly do that."
