Buzz up! 0 Print.DENVER, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Author and retired detective, Jim Benish, announces the release of a new book, "Closed Eyes: Who's Killing Our Children?" (ISBN: 978-0-982-4249-0-2). In the book, the author examines the murder cases of two Colorado children - Tracy Neef and Alie Berrelez - and discovers striking similarities to the JonBenet Ramsey murder. He discusses a possible suspect and explains the connections.

*(Photo Caption: "Closed Eyes: Who's Killing Our Children?")

In 1993, Benish worked for the Thornton Police Department in Thornton, Colo. At this time, he reopened the Neef file; a murder that took place in 1984. After some investigation, he discovers that the initial suspect was cleared without due reason. However, Benish learns that the investigation was peppered with inexperience and error.

As the author digs deeper into files, he begins to draw connections. He learns that welding particles were on the victims' bodies and clothing; the suspect in the Neef and Berrelez cases was a welder. Benish also discovers that the suspect had been arrested or seen in close proximity to all of the crime scenes.

"Almost one year ago, the Ramsey family was eliminated as suspects," Benish says. "This suspect is still at large and the jurisdictions in charge need to combine their efforts to yield resolution."

Benish strongly believes that this suspect is a serial offender and is the key to solving these cold cases.

"The public has a right to know," Benish adds. "It's very possible that this suspect continues to prowl the neighborhoods. Since 2002, he's been arrested and convicted of another sexual crime; he's finally on the Colorado Sexual Offender list. To date, he has only been revealed to be a person of interest or suspect on the Neef case."

    About the Author

Jim Benish has worked as a police officer and detective; he has what he calls a "cop's sense of criminal reality" and he believes that these murders have been committed by this suspect. Throughout his career, he has written or reviewed thousands of crime reports and is proficient at recognizing and combining the elements of a crime with witness statements that many times resulted in the arrest of the perpetrator.

    Another Amateur Attempt....

Another amateur attempt by a bored retiree to put together a case with loosely related details conjured into "facts" and put before the public in novel form. This kind of book only fuels the Ramsey legend, futher confusing the facts of JonBenet's murder case for the public and associating it with other child abduction/murder cases which have little in common and were committed in a completely different time frame.

This fellow is using JonBenet's name and his own imagination to create a picture of sensationalism which titilates the public's taste for true crime. Looks like he is after money and fame like so many others who have used the case of this poor child for the own self-agrandizement.

I am left wondering, Greenleaf, if there is Ramsey money involved in this latest RST effort to distract from the newly structured (and hopefully one filled with integrity) police investigation currently proceeding in Boulder.

The timing of this new book surely makes on suspicious of the intent, just as you indicate.

    (highlights are mine)

I thought the same thing, Voyager. Now, if you really want to see how lazy (and slanted) the media is (PRO-RAM) google Jim Benish, the so called detective-author. Every single newspaper merely copies the original article, verbatim.
There is no one questioning the validity of what this idiot proposes, just same old same old; all PRO RAM, with prominent mention of the Rams having been proven not guilty about a year ago. (HOG WASH!)

Let’s see now: When the Running Man, Barbie doll nut, sex glove wearer, stun gunner, the old neighbor, Santa, the housekeper, and numerous stranger “intruders” didn’t work, we now have a serial-child-killer- welder; leaving shavings of steel all about. I am not smart enough to make that one up.

Also, if you have a mind to do so, and need a good laugh, check out Benish’s “Bio.”

His “book” is a clear indication (to me) that the Rams are very worried about the new D.A. Maybe, just maybe, Stan is OUR MAN.

So, Pammy Poo and dear old Lou, put your summer vacations on hold.
And, goody, goody, plastic Woody, this new RST story doesn’t pass the smell test; better get back to the drawing board.

    Greeting JR from FFJ:
Now,J.R., don’t go far, ‘cause Stan and the "powers that be" are looking hard at you right now. You can run, but you can’t hide. We'll be waiting and watching for the next chapter in this ever changing saga.

Ain't it the TRUTH! Did this guy say Lacy's super duper DNA trooper at Bode Tech found steel shavings, too?

Interesting find, Greenleaf. I'll check it out after Father's Day activities.

    NEVER GIVE UP...something new

As stated earlier, the Ram's are getting nervous: Somthing new.

The JonBenet Ramsey Case: Never Give Up June 24, 2009

    By Stephen Singular

The most famous unsolved murder in America -- the JonBenet Ramsey case in Boulder, Colorado -- is cold, but not dead. For those who’ve believed that this maddening 1996 crime will never be solved, don’t be so certain. A group of mostly civilian investigators has never stopped digging below the surface of this homicide and in the past year there’s been movement on various fronts. Last summer, outgoing Boulder DA Mary Lacy officially cleared the Ramsey parents as the killers of their daughter, after two samples of “touch DNA†from JonBenet’s underwear were consistent with genetic material in her panties and beneath her fingernails. All the samples belonged to a single male: her murderer had likely been identified genetically, if not by name. This was the first real development in the case since the child’s body was found in her basement more than twelve years ago. As retired Colorado Springs homicide detective and DA Ramsey investigator Lou Smit told me this past spring, “All we have to do now is wait for someone to get arrested for another crime and we’ll match that person’s DNA to the killer’s. We got ‘em right where we want ‘em.â€

The greatest difficulty surrounding the case is not that there isn’t investigative work to be done, but that the Boulder authorities have consistently refused to do some of it. Credible suspects have not been cleared by DNA because they’ve never been tested. Leads generated by Smit and other legitimate sources haven’t been followed, but dismissed. Witnesses that would move the case in the direction of child pornography and exploitation haven’t been taken seriously. Since Lacy cleared the Ramsey parents last year, the Boulder Police Department has been in an indefensible position: the two people the local cops focused on from the beginning, to the exclusion of most everyone else, were John and Patsy Ramsey. Patsy died in June 2006 and John has now been was exonerated as the killer. Even if the Ramseys had some involvement in or knowledge of the crime, the case isn’t going to be solved by looking only at JonBenet’s father.

A parallel investigation into JonBenet’s death, led by retired police officers like Smit, is alive and well. Information is being generated and over the years a suspect list has grown. In January 2009, those following the case felt a rush of optimism when new Boulder DA Stan Garnett said he wanted to take a fresh look at the murder. Last winter, I contacted Garnet and have spoken with him several times. Unfortunately, instead of overseeing the Ramsey investigation himself, he turned it back over to the BPD, which hasn’t been able to bring charges against anyone since 1996. There’s little evidence that the Boulder police are doing anything new; they, too, may just be waiting for a DNA match after someone is arrested in Colorado or another jurisdiction. The good news is that civilians have widened the Ramsey investigation on their own and made some connections and progress.

In April 2009, Showtime featured the film, “Zodiac.†As I repeatedly watched it, in part because of the excellent acting by Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, and Mark Ruffalo, I felt a sliver of optimism about the situation in Boulder. It took well over a decade for one civilian, “San Francisco Chronicle†cartoonist Robert Graysmith, to finger Arthur Leigh Allen as the most likely candidate as the Bay Area Zodiac serial killer from the 1960s and ‘70s. Graysmith did it through relentless determination and research -- finding and piecing together information well after the San Francisco police had given up on solving the crime. website at

There’s work left to be done on the Ramsey case and some people, including myself, are still doing it. On In Cold Blog I’ll provide occasional updates on the murder probe being done outside official circles.

Never ending BS!! -- "A parallel investigation into JonBenet’s death, led by retired police officers like Smit, is alive and well. Information is being generated and over the years a suspect list has grown."

In the late 90s, the Ramsey "all volunteer" investigation team, comprised of ex-FBI, ex-Mossad, ex-KGB, and ex-whatever, had "generated" a massive suspect list that included everyone but Iranian midgets ("small foreigh faction"). My favorite song back then (and now) was "Looking for the Killer in all the Wrong Places." :violin:

SS has the nerve to call Lou Smit a credible detective. I wonder how the blue stun gun line is credible? (I am not a LE officer and I laughed until my stomach hurt when I read that piece of idiocy). Seems pretty stupid reasoning for any detective as far as I can tell and old Lou should have crawled off in shame and kept his mouth shut after that.
Is it now credible for a detective to pray with a suspect and then decide they are innocent on the basis that they are religious and therefore not capable of killing their child? These are a couple of items that should be mentioned whenever Lou's name is trotted out to show that an intruder did this horrible murder.

    Using Jon Benet....

Stephen Singular is one on a long list of many who periodically try to cash in on their connection with the Ramsey Case.

Can you just feel his mind working on some new far out theory on which to base a new book?

Well, I have an appropriate title for his next book...Think I will visit his website and leave it on his blog. How about "Cashing In On Jon Benet" Mr. Singular?

If for no other reason, I would like to see definitive proof of Ramsey guilt brought forth just to see these predatory, manipulative hangers-on exposed for the greedy low-lifes they truly are.

Gosh. I must have been napping too long the day they announced the Zodiac Killer has been arrested!

Anyone have a link to that news flash? I can't seem to find it.

Thank heavens the usual Ramsey shills are still plodding away, watching movies and emailing perverts so they can at long last find that old intruder!

But how is it that THEY STILL BLAME THE BPD for NOT investigating the intruder suspects as an excuse for not finding him/them? I THOUGHT TEAM RAMSEY DA MARY LACY HAD THE CASE IN HER OFFICE FOR 7 YEARS?! She even used LOOSE MITS' AND MICHAEL SPACEY'S SUSPECT LIST!

The BPD only had the case for 5 YEARS in comparison!

Just the kind of intelligent deduction we have come to so admire from the Ramsey Shills and PROFITEERS (to use JR's own oft used epithet against those making money on this case--himself not included, I presume).

Oh, okay. Thanks for answering. It's been a long time since I saw that poster. I remember the avatar because I had a poodle whom I loved dearly and so enjoyed the spunk illustrated in the avatar.

Sorry I got us off topic!

As to this example of more from the "Brain Stems" (see BobC's thread) and their stupid intruder tricks: I think Singular's Zodiac reference is actually perfect for this case and his TRUE point, rather than his STUPID point. Just like all the egotistical maniacs who have wasted a great deal of the investigators' time in JonBenet's case, the "citizen" ruining his life and family to chase his obsession resulted in--the Zodiac killer is still unidentified and unarrested.

Singular completely missed that part of the story. In other words--THE MAIN POINT.
