    Checking the tank

Our first target was a tank (pond to some of Y'All!)

    Grid search

The walkers moved on to a grid search as the K9's searched specific targets.

    HELLO!

Sure glad this guy didn't rattle! We judged him to be about 4 feet long.

    Hot and tired

We were pretty much wasted by the time we called the search at the second site. Southern ladys don't sweat they perspire.

As you can see I am dumb enough to get close enough to take a picture. Janet was saying very quietly, "back away slowly JR." I was inching ahead to get my shot and I wasn't "packing" today. Must be my brain was fried. Good thing he was not a rattler.

    If you didn't notice

JR, I don't know if you noticed but Deputy Richter had his bullet proof vest on in that 90 degree plus weater. I would have passed out.

You can "pack" on the next search lady.

I did notice and asked him about it. He had to have been even more miserable than the rest of us. He said it's a requirement for him but he also told me that a couple of weeks back when he and Officer Minton were searching that they could actually hear bullets whizzing by them. Seems a rancher was target shooting on a nearby property and was not aware Minton and Richter were so close.

And all we had to worry about were bulls and snakes....not bullets

Make that bulls and bullsnakes...not bullets. Hey for once, we didn't even have to deal with bullpucky because Robert S wasn't there.

    Rachel Cooke Search - Update

I spent the evening with RC going over upcoming plans. With the new key players RC mentioned on another thread joining the team a lot has already been done.

We will not give up the search for Rachel until we bring her home.

    Saturday, June 29, 2002

There will be a search effort on Saturday, June 29.

Meet: Faith Lutheran Church on Williams Drive (2.4 miles west of I-35, exit 261A in Georgetown)

    Time: 8:00 am
(Teams will be briefed and leave for the search site at 8:15 AM)

The search should be finished by 12:30 pm. Wear good shoes and clothes. Water will be supplied. No horses are needed this week.

Please no one under age 15 due to rattlesnakes and other factors.
