OK, googled this up and seems LE might be close to an arrest. I'm wondering who they knew or were related to who lived in NY?

    http://www.crimelibrary.com/news/original/0107/0801_keefe_murders.html

There's a second page repeating the details of the murder at this link, as well.

I also found this old article, which may already be on this thread and I forgot it, but it's worth a second look because it mentions some things about David Keeffe being known in New York and a Syracuse sport fan:

Uh oh. Stumbled upon THIS piece, which I also hadn't read and apologize if I missed it here:

    http://origin-www.crimelibrary.com/news/original/1206/2601_keefe_murders2.html

You should go to the webpages because the reporter has done some great sleuthing and has some good pictures of the property of the Keefe's, as well as great info on who lived there.

There's lots more, but this interested me most, if the "arrest soon" rumors are true, with the New York search warrants:

The son living in NYC may or may not have anything to do with the murder, but he's the only one I see in NY.

    Draining a pond in Waverly...

They must be looking for the weapon. Finding it will enhance the case against whoever the suspect is.

Waverly is only a few miles away from Athens. That must be where the perp drove to dispose of the weapon; bloody clothes, shoes, etc.

Getting a hold of these items will enhance the prosecutor's case.

There must be evidence in the garage and home. Even if the perp wore gloves, there must have been bloody footprints after a massacre like that.

    Also hairs, fibers, etc.

State Police have a suspect; they probably have a motive; now they have to build an airtight case.

PA State Police are the best. They will do it!

    I hope so, Lurker.

In reading the article about the security system the Keefe's had on their compound, with even sensor trips on the drive way, in case someone breached the gate security, I wonder if the Keefe's had a system recording all that stuff.

If the system was turned off, then it's pretty clear that it was an insider, unless they found it had been disarmed without the codes.

Why would the Keefe's not notice that, anyway, and just drive on in?

I have to say, that security system was such that it gave me pause. They must have felt like they had a lot of enemies. I'm sure working as a lawyer would suffice to cause that, but still...that's very sophisticated stuff they had. So if they were that cautious, why wouldn't they notice if it was not working when they drove in?

Plus, like the article said, no place to park a car unnoticed. An ATV would have an owner/renter and leave tracks, if brought up rough terrain and parked where the family wouldn't see it.

So it would seem, all in all, the Keeffe's knew their killer.

I've been googling the son and his fiancee's names in New York and I cannot find anything but a triathlon in 2005 that they both competed in, New England, if that's even them. The two in the race were both aged 24 in 2005. I can't find either of them listed in the whitepages.com. I found the fiancee's name listed in a swim meet at Columbia University in 1999, but that may not be her, either. Columbia Univerisity is in NY, though, and the dates seem like they'd fit with the ages of the triathlon Joanna Kolb. Which may not have anything to do with David M. Keeffe and his fiancee Joanna Kolb.

    I've hit the proverbial wall.

I sure hope it's not the son, though. That is too cold and hard. But he looks very worried in that picture of him in the article. Like he's not a happy man.

    OK, this is interesting:

    http://www.crimelibrary.com/news/original/0107/0902_keefe_murders.html

This Crime Library reporter is good. He talked to the police chief and got some answers. The pond was NOT drained, but "looked at." No arrest is about to be made, as they have a lot of work to do. But the PChief confirms that it was NOT a random killing, that the Keeffe's were targeted for a specific reason.

KK, there are more covert lists than whitepages.com. My kid that helps her hubby do the PA cop research has found a few with even "unlisted" folks on the sites. She sort of phreaked and got their names removed, then told some of the local narcotics guys that they'd better get their names removed, too. All it takes is the right website. I haven't really asked her for hers, as mine is sufficient (my fave wierd addy website).

Any news in this case? I haven't heard anything locally. I guess the State Police want to dot every "i" and cross every "t" before making an arrest.

I have great faith in my State Police and I know they will solve this case.

    Final Day in Court

    Memorial Service for Murdered Couple

    Friday, January 26, 6:18 p.m.

    By Kurt Aaron

A Bradford County attorney and his wife who were killed two months ago were remembered this afternoon in a memorial service.

David Keeffe and his wife, Carol, were found shot to death in their Athens Township home in November.

Friends and family members gathered at the Bradford County courthouse in Towanda to honor the Keeffes.

"A number of lawyers and judges will pay tribute to David Keeffe, who was widely known in this area and beyond as a wonderful trial lawyer," said Keeffe family spokesman Paul Lyon.

After the memorial colleagues spoke about Keeffe and his wife, Carol.

"It's very important that the public put a face together. He wasn't just a lawyer, he was a father, grandfather and a great person," said Jonathan Foster of the Bradford County Bar Association.

Friends of Keeffe said it is a tradition to have what they call a final day in court. That's why the held the memorial service at courthouse.

Investigators still have no leads in the Keeffe murder case. That has frustrated everyone involved. Family and friends want to remind people there is a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of the prominent couple.

"If anyone knows anything we would like them to contact the police. Let them know that we can't allow this type of crime to occur," Foster added.

If you have information about the Keeffe's murders you can contact state police at 570-265-2186.

    Jc,

Yes, that is sad. Both the daughter, accompanied by her husband, and the son from New York attended the Final Day at the Courthouse memorial.

I don't think there is any reason to suspect close family at all. They seem like a very devoted and caring family.

Going out from that inner circle, well, just don't know. I don't see why or how anyone could hate this lovely couple enough to assassinate them in such a brutal fashion. Not a soul has a bad word to say about either of them.

I am going back to my original theory of a random crime by some sociopath.

I hope this case continues to get the attention it deserves. There's that $100,000 reward out there.

The PA State Police are now involved in the high profile murder of the Gay Porn King, Bryan Kocis. He was found this week in his home in Luzerne County with his throat slashed, and the house burnt down. He was a multimillionaire from making and distributing "twink" porn...that's porn of young men aged 18 to 25.

He was involved in a million-dollar lawsuit with one of his former "stars"...Sean Lockhart aka "Brent Corrigan".

GOOGLE on any of these names will bring up a lot more about this case...it is too lurid for this crime board.

Anyway, I hope it doesn't divert resources away from the Keefe case.

Well, if it was someone close to the Keeffes, it might have been a hit. The thing is, with their security system, someone knew how to get up there either unseen, or knew the Keeffe's wouldn't be alarmed for some reason. That's the best lead.

I hope they solve it. But it looks like they may not. Whoever did it was organized and left little evidence, it seems.

    Nothing New on This Case.

This double murder is fast becoming a cold case. No new leads have come in, despite the $100,000 reward.

I google this case every few days, Lurker. It's definitely not being worked by the media.

    It's four months now...

    ...and no arrests.

I wonder who is getting away with this brutal double murder?

    Five Months

Five months since the Keeffes were murdered in their own home, and no arrest yet.

May they rest in peace, but I don't see how they can while their murderer(s) are still on the loose.

I don't see how this case is taking so long. Another po dunk police force being stymied by a family that is comprised of LAWYERS?

Of course, I have no idea if it's someone from the family. And I don't know why anyone in the family would protect the killer, after what he did.

But then again, I feel that way about the Ramseys, and we see how viciously they protect the killer.

    Googling around...

...on David Keeffe, I found this:

SAYRE, PA, Pennsylvania law firm focusing on, Criminal Law, Dog Bites, Eminent Domain.

I wonder if anyone had to have a dog put down because of litigation by Keeffe? Have the PA. State Police looked into this angle?

    Reward Raised to $118,000

    Murder Investigation Gone Cold
    Last Update: May 1, 2007 8:48 PM

    Athens

Family members say the investigation into the murders of a prominent Bradford County lawyer and his wife has gone cold. The reward for information has gone up again to try and track down their killer.

The double murder of David and Carol Keeffe last year shocked the community. The Keeffe's were found shot to death in the garage of their Athens Township home last November. The reward for information has been increased to 118 thousand dollars from 100 thousand.

Again, family members tell us there are no new leads in the investigation. Our calls to Pennsylvania State Police were not returned.
