Yeah, Mary Jane is very popular there. Always has been. You can get a "contact high" just from the clothes of people standing next to you in a grocery store line.

    LOL Cherokee and Heymom,

I couldn't agree more. It really is strange--its like the world completely changes when you drive across the county line. Could very well be drugs in the water!!

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone on the inner circle of this case. I was just a lowly graduate student who graduated the spring before this case hit. I was still living in the area though. Talk about a media circus!! Don't even get me started on the way the Boulder Police and the DA handled this case. No idea what they were doing. :ziplip:

Remember Steve's story about driving through Boulder while undercover?! All through town with a bunch of weed in the back of his truck and no one cared to report him, only cheer him on!

Or the prostitute sting that he set up only to be told to Don't GO there by the Higher (no pun intended) Uppers?!

Mary LacyTracey has a section (does the Boulder DA call them "sections"?) on white collar crime in her office:

    busywork

Scroll down and you will meet Deputy District Attorney Amy Okubo (left), white-collar crime specialist; as well as Deputy District Attorney Debra Welsh, who also works in this area.

This is probably a hoppin' section - covering all that SEC crime the Feds don't catch up with.

    WY,
Has there been any leaks of the foreign DNA in this case being associated with unknown contributor blood or saliva? Can't they do amylase testing to check for saliva?

I thought they were hanging their hat on JMK's story about the saliva in the underpants before the DNA came back no match.

    My bachelor's is in micro.

I've got it and you're not getting it back until you bring the oreos and potato chips :yay:

Would you settle for Reese's peanut butter cups? I already ate the Oreos.

:rolling: Funny you should ask. I had peanut butter cups after lunch today and I even had two oreos. So yes, I'll always settle for anything chocolate!

I don't know if I'd call them leaks, but Henry Lee said this isn't a DNA case. He also said the DNA probably isn't associated with the murder and could have gotten there during the manufacturing process (the underwear was brand new, right out of the package - had not been laundered).

I also don't know if it's true or not, but I've read several times that Lee purchased underwear of the same kind and found foreign DNA on that underwear - brand new, out of the package.

Amylase testing for saliva probably wasn't possible in this case, because the foreign DNA was found co-mingled with blood DNA from JBR. The foreign DNA was badly degraded and of such tiny quantity, I don't think they would have been able to a test like that. What I think, and again I'm not an expert in DNA, is that the foreign DNA was probably deposited on the underwear during the manufacturing or packing process - possibly from a factory worker who sneezed or something like that. That would account for the degradation of the sample. When JB bled into her size 12 panties, the blood absorbed that tiny bit of foreign DNA and will evermore be a red herring in this case.
