What I suspect happened is Keenan and her mousy crew of "investigators" asked CODIS to check those 10 markers against their data base, even though the resulting chances of a "match" might be 1 in 1,000 instead of 1 in 1 billion.

It sounded to me (kind of reading between the lines) that the Ramsey camp has used markers from unknown sources found in all the different places to come up with a "complete" profile of 13.
So, they have the 9 decent markers, plus 1 weak marker. And then from the hand samples, they have the total of 3 markers.
So (even though there is nothing to say that the DNA in those different spots are from the same person), they have a total of 13 markers (9 + 1 + 2 + 1).
I'm making some assumptions, but so are they.
