Classic example of how IDIs operate who don't want the truth to be found out. :

Athena posted the following quote on Sycamore.
What she coveniently left out was the pivotal sentence:

"Either way, Ubowski was prepared to say, "Patsy wrote the note."

    The correct quote reads:

What do such IDIs hope to gain from leaving out crucial case info? Do they know that the Ramsey case IS an RDI case but don't want to admit it? (In Athena's case, I think yes). But what would they lose if they stopped deceiving others? What is so threatening for them in acknowledging that the Rameys were involved?

I believe they are afraid of the truth.

They've formed friendships and comfort zones based in their desire for the Ramseys to be innocent. How would that change if they accept the truth? It hurts to admit you have been duped by those in whom you have invested so much personal feeling. It's also quite hard to accept that you were so wrong, and so many you respect have also been very wrong. If they acknowledge that, they have a huge change to deal with among their group. It won't be pretty and they know it.

Think of the few who dared to finally ask the hard questions that never get asked by, or around, the RST. They were ostracized by their former "friends". Even so, those with that kind of courage still rarely can then say they feel the Ramseys were involved, only that they have questions they'd like to discuss, or issues with the way some things were handled.

And if you're not the kind of person who simply wants to know the truth, there is nothing you're going to gain by changing horses now.

Very interesting thoughts, KK. That would indeed explain it.
I had completely forgotten to take the "group dynamic" aspect into account when racking my brain over that question. Peer pressure and fear of rejection by the group can be a powerful factor.
It would definitely jumble up the whole group of staunch IDIs if one of their own would suddenly break away.
For what holds rabid IDIs together is emotion, a belief in the Ramseys' innocence so strong that it drives them to ignore, suppress and even distort evidence pointing to Ramsey involvement.
Their house of cards built on sand is constantly threatened to collapse of course. They are being confronted on the forums with with RDIs pointing out the evidence to them, and if one of their own now should suddenly admit the RDIs have been right, this would be too much for them to bear. They would immediately turn all their emotional energy on that member of their group, ostracizing him/her.

JMHO but it's just so simple to be an IDI. It requires no logic, no thought process, no research, no sources. It just requires saying IDI without any rhyme or reason. Basically it's the lazy way to join a group - they all just nod their heads and repeat the IDI creed. Anyone can join :)
