    Outcome

The apparent grave and the other evidence turned out to be another place Rachel isn't but as mentioned, it was a tense 4 hours before the Cooke family received word from the Sheriff's office that the area had been checked and cleared.

The Cooke's were on their way to a media event when the call came on. More to come on that.

This weekend was an extended search weekend

This weekend was an extended search weekend in that there was going to be a major press conference. The folks from Forums for Justice met with Robert Cooke on Friday evening to insure their role in the conference was clear. One of the forum members was gracious enough to host everyone at his home.

    Another idea is discussed

One forum member discussed the fact that she has lined up some major trucking folks to place the new bumper stickers on all their trucks. Rachel's flyer will now be on the move.

    Media Event

After a full morning of searching, the forum members and the Cookes cleaned up and headed into Austin to meet up with the press and some other important victims advocate groups. Those attending the even were Robert and Janet Cooke, several members from Forums for Justice, Lori Bible, Verna Lee Carr (Executive Advisor) and Thomas Anne Hines (Director) of People Against Violent Crime and Rusty Hoberts of Justice for All.

The media starts to arrive. All 5 local stations covered this event.

    Robert and Janet get "miked"

People Against Violent Crime generously allowed the press event to take place in the atrium of their office building, making the location very convienant for the media.

    Our role

Forums for Justice presented the Cookes with a check to aid in the continuing search for Rachel and with a certificate entitling them to them to all rights to the Rachel Alert Network, which includes:

    RachelAlert.us
    RachelAlert.net
    RachelAlert.org
    Rachel Alert.com

The Cookes plan to have the web site up by the end of July. Initially, it will provide important imformation to families who have to deal with an abduction. The Cookes have plans to expand the Rachel Alert Network from that springboard.

    After the media

Once the press conference was done, the Cookes, the forum members who attended the press conference, Lori Bible, Thomas Ann Hines and some additional members of the forum met at Pappasito's Cantina in Austin to discuss pressing forward with the Task Force request discussed with the Sheriff's Office the past couple of weeks.

    Some very good folks

This is the family of a forum member who also owns Express Gourmets. They have generously provided many lunches to the searchers out in the field. It is said that "children learn what they live." These children will most likely grow up to be victims advocates because of the example being set by their parents.

    Thank You

I would like to personally thank each and every member of Forums for Justice for being so supportive of the Cooke family. Though most cannot be here to search, they have been supportive in other ways.

Some of the ways forum members have supported the Cookes:

Keeping Rachel and the Cooke family in their prayers, donating goods, gift certificates and money to the search effort, cheering on those who have physically searched, posting encouraging messages to the Cooke family and physically searching. You are each Victims Advocates in your own right.

    Thank you!
