what on earth is going on in that cesspool they call the DA's office in Boulder? I don't think the BPD did anything with that tape except turn it over to the DA's office. If this is true, then someone messed with the tape, and since it came directly from the DA's office, then I'd be inclined to look there for the fuddermucker who is trying to eliminate Burke's and JR's voices on the tape.

I'm telling you, this case is so dirty it stinks. Maybe some of our observations that there is corruption in the Boulder DA's office aren't so far off, after all.

I don't think the Ramseys have paid off anyone in this case - at least not in the DA's office. That doesn't mean I think money hasn't changed hands along the line, somewhere, nor does it mean I don't think a few favors might have been called in or the good-old-boy system isn't firmly in place in Boulder.

Of course they consider those voices are important evidence in a possible prosecution. So, as you say, why? Or maybe more important would be "Who." If we knew who, we would probably know why.

911 update

One of the labs working on the CD of the 911 call distributed by Mary Keenan's office confirms that the attempt to erase the post hang-up conversations on audio tape was done PRIOR to the CD being made from that tape. The erasure try was actually quite amateurish using a magnet. They missed "Help me Jesus! Help me Jesus! and "What did.........." completely and the remainder is absolutely recoverable.

Part of the process that labs are using is called q notch technology. Look it up on GOOGLE.

There needs to be an investigation into who did that. Isn't that like tampering with evidence? Must not be the original though, so maybe I'm over-reacting but the ends the RST will go to is incredible.

Is it obstruction of justice to tamper with a future jury pool by such deceptive means? It ought to be.

Obstruction of justice? Are you kidding? If this can be proven to be true, it might explain a few things. But, let's deal with the obstruction of justice thing first.

If someone has fooled around with the Ramsey 911 tape, under Obstruction of Justice laws, they could be subject to some fines at the very least. However, this isn't just obstruction of justice - this is Evidence Tampering, which carries some pretty stiff penalties - big fines and possible jail sentences - I saw one case that carried a $10,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison, and that was for changing a floor plan.

As much as I think Lin Wood is capable of bending the law to his purposes, he always seems to stay just inside that line. I don't think he's stupid enough to tamper with the evidence. Having said that, though, this news would explain why Wood and his former pardner, jams, have both faded into the woodwork in recent weeks. They have both found out that the tape was tampered with. The question is, who did it? The answer lies with Mary Keenan's office or the BPD - the only ones who had access to the tape. Right? Or, were they the only ones?

I'm very confused about this. I know Patsy's voice is on there saying Help me, Jesus, Help me, Jesus, several times. I know it. I heard it, and, no, I will not tell you how I heard it. I could not hear any other voices on the unenhanced tape, but I heard "noises." I suspect this is the same thing that Steve Thomas and the others heard before they had the tape enhanced.

Others, including jams, claimed there was nothing on the tape, and, indeed, when I followed the link she had on her forum and listened to the copy of that tape, I couldn't hear anything at the end. So, how did I hear it on one version and not on the one jams had? A poster named "Dave" did some work on jams' version of the tape and said he heard noises at the beginning of the tape but not the end. I don't think either jams or Dave was lying about this, although jams was kind of hedging, saying there were noises but no voices.

Were there two versions of the tape? I can't believe there were. If my copy came from the DA's office in Boulder and I heard Patsy saying Help me Jesus at the end of that tape after she allegedly hung up, why wasn't it on the tape jams played?

Herein lies the connundrum. If someone at the DA's office tampered with the tape, all copies of the tape would be the same as the one jams offered on her forum and the same as the one Lin Wood played on Couric's show. Patsy's voice is clear to me on the copy I heard. The tape I heard came from DA's office in Boulder. That has to be the same tape Wood was given.

There can be only three possibilities and one explanation. I don't know the explanation, but the possibilities are: 1. Someone tried to erase the voices on the tape given to Lin Wood to keep him from having access to those voices, or 2. Lin Wood or someone in his employ tampered with that tape, or 3. Wood's copy of the tape was faulty through no one's fault.

Considering that both Wood's and jameson's copies were missing the voices/noises at the end, one might think jameson's copy came from Wood. But, once again, considering the wingnut jameson's reputation with Boulder authorities, perhaps they gave her a "faulty" version of the tape, too.

It's a huge coincidence, though, that Wood's and jameson's copies of the tape would be faulty but the one I listened to was not. It's also a stretch to think Boulder authorities would tamper with Wood's tape but give out true copies to others who requested them. Makes absolutely no sense.

I've made no secret of the fact that I don't care for Lin Wood's tactics, and I think he's an arrogant, pushy SOB, but I would hate to think he tampered with that tape. However, given the process of elimination and the fact that other tapes do have Patsy's voice plainly evident at the end of the tape might lead someone to question Wood's presentation of the tape as a true copy that hadn't been tampered with.

It would also lead one to start putting other pieces together and wondering if this is the reason Wood and jameson have both gone underground, since both of them have disappeared from the Ramsey radar.

Here's something else. I read at another forum that a poster allegedly sent Wood an e-mail telling him about several JonBenet pornographic websites, and Wood allegedly wrote back and said, "What do you want me to do about it?" If this is true, it sounds as if Mr. Ramsey Pit Bull Wood is a mite touchy about this subject. Could it be his services are no longer required by the litigous Ramseys? Or is it because that particular cash cow isn't producing anymore big bucks for Wood? Or, is it something else altogether - such as tampering with evidence charges?

Next question - there is enough evidence, I think, to show there was something funky going on with that tape, and the tape Wood had broadcast to the country was misleading, to say the least. So, where are the investigators? I'm thinking as I'm typing, you know. Maybe, because it wasn't done in a trial, and because the actual evidence that the BPD and DA's office have wasn't tampered with, there couldn't be any charges filed. IOW, Wood may have done a lot of damage to himself and to his clients, but he really couldn't damage the case, because the original tape is still being held by Boulder authorities. That tape hasn't been tampered with, and therefore there couldn't be any tampering of real evidence charges.

What there could be is an ethics violation by Wood, perhaps, if he is responsible for this misrepresentation, and public scorn rained down upon him, damaging his reputation irretrievably. Perhaps he could be fined by someone, I don't know, if he knew the tape had been tampered with. But, unless the tampering were done to the actual, original tape that would be used in a trial, I don't know if he, or anyone else, could be charged with tampering with evidence.

Like I said, it's a big connundrum, and everyone in Boulder is so anal retentive secretive, we'll probably never find out. Maybe, though.

 

Tape

The copy of the 911 call tape/CD that is being analyzed came directly from Bill Nagel at the Boulder DA's office. IMO The attempt to erase could not of originated from Lin Wood.

The lab that shared this information is POSITIVE about the fact that an erasure attempt was made and they are POSITIVE about how it was attempted.


With all due respect to "Dave", the audio recovery experts working on this mystery are regarded as the top in the world. In addition, the lab is part of a large well-financed company that has state of the art equipment and software. Two years ago, a member of the team completed a study for the FBI lab in VA that changed the way the FBI recovers audio.

do the voices at the end of the 911 tape prove?

1. John and Patsy Ramsey lied to the police in the 1997, 1998, and 2000 interviews. Gee Wiz and I thought they wanted to help the authorities find the killer of their daughter?

2. Lin Wood heard the enhanced tape and consequently has known the truth since December of 2002. He purposefully scammed Larry King and NBC to protect clients he KNEW to be liars.

3. The Boulder DA office's behavior is so bizarre that it has established a new benchmark for small town abuse of power.
