Holloway suit vs. Dr. Phil can proceed

 LOS ANGELES - A judge refused to dismiss a defamation suit Tuesday against CBS and television psychologist "Dr. Phil" McGraw brought by two brothers who were questioned in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.

William Cremer, the lead attorney for Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, praised the decision by Superior Court Judge Edward A. Ferns.

"I'm going to take Dr. Phil down," he said outside the courtroom.

The ruling came a day after ABC's "20/20" aired a secretly recorded conversation involving Joran Van der Sloot, who also has been interrogated by Aruban authorities on Holloway's May 2005 disappearance. In the tape, Van der Sloot claims that Holloway died on the beach while they were kissing, and that he tried to revive her but failed. He said that the teen's body was dumped in the ocean and that it would never be found.

Joseph Tacopina, a lawyer for Van der Sloot, said that his client was not responsible for the Alabama teenager's death and that the tapes do not amount to a confession. Last week, Van der Sloot said he was lying in those conversations and denied that he had anything to do with Holloway's disappearance.

The Kalpoes, who have maintained they had nothing to do with Holloway's disappearance, sued in December 2006, claiming the "Dr. Phil" talk show altered portions of a taped conversation between Deepak Kalpoe and a private investigator to "create false, incriminating, and defamatory statements that the plaintiffs engaged in criminal activity against Natalee Holloway."

I missed the Dr. Phil show where this tape was played, apparently. I have heard about this suit, but I don't follow this case that closely. Now I'd like to hear the whole tape, which I believe Dr. Phil's lawyer said was not edited to create incorrect impressions about what Kalpoe actually said, but was edited to play on TV for time constraints, which is common because of the limited time shows have per episode.

But here is something I went back and looked at because I had forgotten the NAMES the "psychic" scammers gave about their version of "what happened" to Natalee: turns out the "half brother" of Joran is named...Lorenzo!

So now we know where this "psychic" couple got that name from, and if it is true Lorenzo is in fact part of a drug ring, I guess they also know that and that's why they say they stayed in different places and used aliases in Aruba. But why they attacked Beth is something I don't understand.

Meanwhile Dutch TV program Netwerk reported that the Arubans know who Joran's accomplice with the boat was, a certain Lorenzo R., his half-brother. Lorenzo R. is a known underworld figure on Aruba. He was arrested in November of last year in connection to an illegal marijuana plantation. Apparently they've kept quiet about this because Lorenzo's superiors in the Aruban underworld were not prepared to do without him. He is already being held for questioning by the police.

A lot of accusations are not being made about corruption in Aruba with this case. We heard "ruminations" that this was about drug running before. Did Natalie happen into a gang of ruthless criminals and pay with her life? And is the government so corrupt there that they've helped them cover it up for over two years?

The answer is looking a lot like "YES" to me.

Very strange things going on in this case.

To recap: A jaw bone was found on the same beach of the hotel where Natalee stayed, where Joran says he went with her. But it's not hers, Aruban officials say. Belongs to a young caucasian woman, but not her.

Five yrs. after her disappearance, with Joran now revealed to have murdered another young woman in Peru, where he awaits trial in prison there, this jaw bone shows up on that particular beach in Aruba? And it's not Natalee's?

Something is very fishy here. Moab and I were wondering if it was planted. Is it from a grave, an anthropological lab, a mortuary, something like that? Or was Natalee not Joran's first kill and someone knows it, and knows where the bodies are.

Aruban official said the bone is porous and therefore was in the water a long time. What are the odds that a body part would wash ashore at that place, a jaw bone of another young, caucasian woman? I'm not buying it.

Is it possible the unidentified woman's body was buried in a bog or a grave infiltrated with sea water on the small island and that's why it's porous?

Or is this some kind of extravagant, cruel hoax?

I thought the odds were slim to none that it could be Natalee's jaw bone, after five years in the sea. Coming out of a shallow grave or a container in the sea, concealed nearby--this was the only thing that gave me pause. But it's not hers? They say.

Aruba wants this to go away. I don't trust them at all. They subscribe to the Hunter/Lacy School of Justice.

I'm not buying any of this. The placement of this jaw bone was planned and executed by someone. Yet another "mystery" Aruba will try to bury.

LIMA, Peru â€” Peruâ€™s government says that once Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot completes his murder conviction in 2038, he will be extradited to the United States to face trial on charges he extorted and defrauded the mother of a young American woman for whose disappearance he is the chief suspect.

A decree published Sunday in Peruâ€™s official gazette says he will be extradited under an indictment in U.S. District Court in the state of Alabama.

Van der Sloot is serving 28 years in prison after being convicted of killing 21-year-old Peruvian student Stephany Flores after meeting her in a Lima casino.

The slaying occurred five years to the day after American teenager Natalee Holloway disappeared during a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba, where Van der Sloot lived. She was last seen leaving a bar with him.

Hollowayâ€™s body was never found, and no charges were filed against Van der Sloot in the case. A judge later declared Holloway dead.

U.S. prosecutors allege Van der Sloot accepted $25,000 in cash from Hollowayâ€™s family in exchange for a promise to lead a lawyer for the family to her body in early 2010, just before he went to Peru.
